Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Take all the music, art and life that inspires athletes to step up and go beyond. Shape it with an edge of attitude but keep the look clean and uncomplicated, then give it the best technology ever to carve light rays. That’s how Oakley made the Hijinx, an O Matter frame decked with dual cam hinges, true metal icons and High Definition Optics(HDO®). Eye-chafing UV can’t get through Plutonite lenses, while the side contours use patented XYZ Optics for widescreen clarity.

Product Description

Our polarized lenses are engineered to block the blinding rays of glare that are magnified by flat surfaces such as water and pavement. We use a liquid infusion process to bond the polarizing filter at the molecular level. That's how we eliminate the haze and distortion found with conventional technologies and achieve the best polarized optics on the planet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large, Stylish, and Oakley quality., August 13, 2010

Oakley Lifestyle sunglasses are superior sunglasses that are built for performance with style.

This is a large sized frame and lens combo. It is comparable in size to the Antix and Oil Rig, and is very similar in style to the Antix; they look almost the same. In fact, I believe the only major difference between the two is that the Antix has a blade lens (single piece), whereas the Hijink has separate and individual lenses for the left and right eye. However, I believe Oakley cuts them both from the same piece of HDO lens to maintain optical clarity.

As for polarized or not, that's a personal decision. You can Google about the pros and cons to decide for yourself. I will tell you that there are so many polarized lenses out there that are just terrible. However, Oakley's polarized lenses are the best I've experienced because they maintain the optical clarity of the non-polarized HDO lenses. You will still experience some of the rainbow effect, but not nearly as bad.

Most of you know about Oakley's O-matter frame and HDO lenses, and for those of you that don't, you can go to their website to read about them. In short, the frame is strong and durable, the lens is ridiculously strong and optically clear. By "optically clear" I mean that the lens does not distort the light like almost every other pair of sunglasses out there (yes, even the expensive ones). The frame may seem like ordinary plastic but it's actually an incredibly durable plastic material they custom make.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oakley Do Not Disappoint, February 21, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oakley Men's Hijinx Polarized Sunglasses (Apparel)
I've worn a lot of high end sunglasses over the years, Oakley, Ray Ban, Armani, Maui Jim, and Tag Heuer. But a few years ago I bought one of the cheapest Oakley sunglasses they make, and remember being very impressed with the build quality, despite them being low end and non-polarized (I bought them for playing poker tournaments indoors).

My Tag Heuers were on their last legs and it was time for new sunglasses investment. I use them mainly for driving and other general use. The lenses had to be polarized, and I wanted to give Oakley a try again to see how they stacked up.

For the price, I was totally amazed at what I received. Oakley really put a lot of effort into making distortion free optically perfect (or close to) lenses that set them apart from most expensive fashion sunglasses. But despite being skeptical when I read about the 'High Definition' optics, I was amazed when I tried them on.

The lens is a grey, and it works well indoors, outdoors, in cloud and in sun. Colors are preserved well, and glare is virtually eliminated for reduced eye strain. They are truly a joy to wear. I love Oakley's passion for the lens, and how much detail they go into on their web site about why they are technically so good.

The O Matter frames feel expensive and robust, especially with the metal logo. These feel like $300 sunglasses. The hinges are well engineered and have a reassuring clunk to them when opened and closed.

Other than them being a little on the large side for some taste (although that is the trend in sunglasses at the moment), they are outstanding. Comfortable, rugged, and optically outstanding. The only thing my Tag Heuer's can do, that these don't do is change tint based on light conditions. But then my Tags cost three times what these do.

I cannot say enough good things about Oakley, I am certain I will buy this brand again.

I have owned this pair of Oakleys for over a year (probably a record for me). I love the look, and the polarized lenses are stellar for optical clarity. Highly recommended.
