5.0 out of 5 stars Pure genius. Hauntingly beautiful. March 17, 2011
I dare you - just try to get your hands on a legitimate copy of this album. You can't, and it's criminal.

This album is wonderful. If you love melodies, counter-melodies and hauntingly beautiful songs, lyrics and harmonies, then this album is for you.

My parents bought this on vinyl in the 80's and the music has been with me ever since. No matter what else I listen to (and I like everything from Bach to Bark Psychosis, Rachmaninoff to Radiohead) I frequently come back to this album and just melt away in it's choons.

Loved and Lost (an instrumental with JLW on cello) is a semi-classical, crescendo-filled sad affair, with a modern synth and piano accompanyment. I Wonder Why is a personal favourite of mine, building as it does from a simple theme into an intense mass of voices. The title track, Oasis, is perhaps the perfect song for Mary, dueting with Peter like lovers in the night.

Some collaborations of artists seem like a good idea, but when they happen, it doens't quite cut it. But with Skellern, Lovelady, Dalton, Lloyd-Webber and not least Mary Hopkin on vocals - this is a mix of skills rarely matched anywhere else.

Oh how I wish this would be remastered and re-released...

If you can find a copy, or MP3s or anything, please listen, enjoy, and hopefully you'll come to the same conclusion as me, that this is one of the most beautiful albums ever produced.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece November 22, 2007
This is a real masterpiece. It took me more than 5 years, searching all the world, to get my hands on it. It worthed every day. This is something rare: lyrics, arrangements, voices, gotta hear to believe. Real music in its essence. If you guys have the opportunity to find one of this, grab it without thinking.
