Obama Unmasked is yet another recent addition to the combined onslaught of literature addressing the person and career of Barack Obama. It is not as sophisticated or as dispassionate as many of the other works out there, and I would get the Freddoso and Mendell books before purchasing this one. The authors take many chances in their analysis here and are not as objective...

3.0 out of 5 stars How Much Style--How Much Substance?
In OBAMA UNMASKED, Floyd Brown makes it clear that his book was never intended to be a fair and even-handed assessment of a man about whom America knows of but not in any detail. Those who are ready to trash any book solely on the basis of its ideology would do well to look beyond Brown's evident screed and judge the book on the merits of what is indisputable about Barack...

Obama Unmasked is yet another recent addition to the combined onslaught of literature addressing the person and career of Barack Obama. It is not as sophisticated or as dispassionate as many of the other works out there, and I would get the Freddoso and Mendell books before purchasing this one. The authors take many chances in their analysis here and are not as objective as one would like. I say this even though I too am a conservative and would never vote for Obama under any circumstances. This text heavily relies on the biography penned by David Mendell for its substance, and does not provide any original research concerning its subject. I also was somewhat annoyed by all of its alternating text in bold as it created a bit of a "beats you over the head" approach. Its okay but others are much stronger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read before the 2008 Presidential election, October 12, 2008
This review is from: Obama Unmasked: Did Slick Hollywood Handlers Create the Perfect Candidate? (Paperback)
This book is filled with facts about Obamas' connections to the unworthy ones. Obama fans won't want to read but need to. One of the more interesting things in the book is about the October Surprise that a billionaire named Soros manages to pull off prior to any election he wants his chosen ones to win, like Obama. Great read and easy to read.Makes your furious at what goes on in politics and Obama is not the first.

3.0 out of 5 stars How Much Style--How Much Substance?, September 7, 2008
This review is from: Obama Unmasked: Did Slick Hollywood Handlers Create the Perfect Candidate? (Paperback)
In OBAMA UNMASKED, Floyd Brown makes it clear that his book was never intended to be a fair and even-handed assessment of a man about whom America knows of but not in any detail. Those who are ready to trash any book solely on the basis of its ideology would do well to look beyond Brown's evident screed and judge the book on the merits of what is indisputable about Barack Obama. It is almost not to the point to accuse Obama of being a creation of a cabal of spin doctors, all of whom have a great deal more to say that is anti-Bush than pro-Obama. Every candidate today runs focus groups to judge how they and presumably the electorate will view that candidate. Brown's animus, however, lies in his belief that focus groups and spin are all there is to Obama. Once Brown makes his point that Obama is a construct, then the reader must decide whether this construct is as truly one-dimensional as Brown asserts. This, of course, is a fork in the road that each reader must choose. Whichever path the reader chooses, he is still left with the same charges made by other anti-Obama writers like Freddoso and Corsi, all of whom rely on words uttered by Obama on issues ranging from his stated desire to increase taxes across the board, appoint liberal judges to the judiciary, increase our reliance on the United Nations in matters of national defense, decrease the size of our armed forces so that our dependency on the good will of the United Nations is a given, and forbid off shore oil drilling so that our dependency on Arab oil will continue indefintely. For those who are justifiably sick of our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan to the point that they are willing to overlook the other agendas of Obama, they would do well to pay heed to a politician who is willing to outline his socialistic vision of an America that would be truly alien to all but the most radical of the Far Left. In OBAMA UNMASKED, Floyd Brown makes the case--however tortuously--that Barack Obama's plans for the future of the United States need no mask at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read Before Voting, October 14, 2008

Well-researched and documented. "Obama Unmasked" represents the new wave of political creations and manipulations. The information is disquieting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary if true, November 2, 2008

This book was a fascinating look into the life of a presidential candidate who came out of nowhere. If everything in this book is true then Obama is an extreme, far left candidate who is definitely out for change, but is it the kind of change that we want? The book corroborates a lot of the information that is contained in two other Obama books, "Obamanation" and "The Case Against Barack Obama" but is written in a much easier style. This is a fast read that you will not want to put down because you will want to know the next secret that Barack Obama surely would not want you to know. The most fascinating chapter of this book (and frightening) was the one on George Soros and how he plans to sabotage the financial system for the benefit of Obama's candidacy. I was reading that chapter while Wall Street was going bonkers and I was seething. Most of the information contained in this book has been covered more extensively in the right wing press but has been paid lip service in the main stream media (which is just about everyone). I wish that all Americans read this book because it certainly would sway the opinions of independent voters and some more moderate voters in the Democratic party.

Now that Obama is the president everyone should read this book. If you had only read it in the autumn, you would have previewed what he was going to do to our country.

Definitely read this book but only in conjunction with the other books I have listed below. The book does not stand alone. Obama Unmasked does a good job of organizing the big picture on some of Obama's marginal actions. To get a real feel for Obama one should read it along with Obama Nation. I also read two of Obama's own books The Audacity of Hope and Dreams of My Father before I read the afore mentioned books and with all four books put together one develops a real feel for Obama and his background. (1) Obama is not an African American in any way shape or form which is the biggest misconception the world has about him. (2) After weighing all of the material, Obama is very bright and only a fool would believe he needed any race quotas to do well at Harvard or any other university. (3) Obama was and still is an angry young man and even he admits he really doesn't know why-weren't we all angry young men in our youth? (4) Is Obama a Moslem, a Christian or like he paints his mother a secular moralist. I don't think Obama knows himself and I am not so sure that is necessarily bad. (5) Obama has a curious mind, is a driven achiever and still searching for the answers. The future will determine whether Obama can bring this entire still unfinished personal panorama into focus enough to motivate the population to solve the problems we face today or will the existing Global Zaibatsu destroy him as it has Clinton, Bush and the world economy. (6) Obama and the rest of us are fortunate he had his heartland Grandmother to provide him a soul because without her he would be a ship at sea with no anchor. She was and will be more important to him and the United States than anyone else in his life in the next 4 years including all of his Ivy League advisors. Let's hope Obama grows up to be like Grandma!

Reading this book refreshed my mind of just what this man is all about. If you want to keep going on without really knowing - don't bother reading. If you want to know more, read about him and his friends.
