Hilarious,

This review is from: Obama's BlackBerry (Hardcover)
Judge this book by its cover. The text-speak between BarackO and BidenMyTime, WildBill, FirstLady2U and (my favorite) Woof.Killa@ChristUBetcha.gov (guess who that is) are as funny as anything you'll see on the Daily Show. I read it cover to cover and back again.

A book to unite the parties?,

I think most of us right or left are tired of the programs that tell you if you don't hate the other party the world will end tomorrow. You can't give in because the other side is out to destroy the world. Well here is a little book you can read to get away from all that. It pokes fun at the people in politics and lets you know that it really isn't all that serious.
The book has pictures of blackberry conversations with different people and the president and they are funny. They have even gone to the extent of thinking up cute screen names for everyone. The president is BarackO, The Vice President is BidenMyTime, the First Lady is FirstLady2U and Bill Clinton is WildBill. There are many others. This book takes stereotypes to the extreme and will give both sides a good laugh. It's pricy for such a small book but it is a great coffee table or bathroom book.

Poignant. Timely. Hilarious.,

This review is from: Obama's BlackBerry (Hardcover)
Composed of text messages, emails, and Facebook updates, Obama's Blackberry chronicles the craziness that the Commander in Chief must have to deal with on a daily basis. From the Secret Service tracking him from room to room in the White House, to Biden (BidenMyTime) coming off as a complete idiot who requests to leave early from work and asks, "how does MySpace work," the inner-circle crowd is exposed brilliantly.
The past two Presidents communicate several times, with specific references to the public's perception of their acumen, or lack thereof. Bill Clinton, the womanizing slickster he has always been, sending Obama links that read like spam: HotGirlsIntoxicatedbyPowerinYourZipCode.com, but getting past the email filter by including something about foreign policy. Not only that, but his sinister attempts at getting time alone without Hillary are equally hilarious. My favorite interaction is between Obama and Bush, with the current President asking the former what the password to the computer in the Oval Office is. After a brief exchange, and a check to see if the line is secure, Bush - as BushWhackin' - delivers the hilarious password. Other great tidbits: Chairman of the Fed, Ben Bernanke, gets painted as a imbecile, inconspicuously asking Obama about "compound" interest, and when met with astonishment, redirecting the question BidenMyTime (intercepted and forwarded to Obama by the Secret Service). Arnold Schwarzenegger wanting to go in after Bin Laden as if the current terrorism climate were as easy as a plot to his movie Commando. Abe Lincoln talking about how great heaven is, and "scoring" all over the place. Sarah Palin (Woof.Killa@ChristUBetcha.gov) getting tricked by the ubiquitous financial scam from the "Nigerian Princess." Absolutely brilliant messages from the Liechtenstein Prime Minister who desperately wants to possess leverage and significance amongst other world leaders. And Obama narcissisticly searching the NY Times online for any instances of his name and the word "sexy" in close proximity. This short book is full of laughs, and fairly accurately portrays (probably) most of the people being lampooned. It's what we all think, and how they most likely really are behind closed doors and without the aid of the press and/or a teleprompter. Without taking sides or adding to the polarized nature of political debate, each party serves as the butt of multiple jokes. Take a quick look at this one next time you're in a book store. I promise you'll LOL.

Short and sweet,
By Jennifer "Jennifer D." (Warren, MI) - See all my reviews

This book was short and sweet. I took me less than an hour from cover to cover...
It was entertaining, it made me laugh a few times. I could only picture some of the people (which makes me realize I need to brush up on current events) but the ones I could made reading these messages even better. I think my favorites were the 3rd one and the last one!

I have been eagerly awaiting the Kindle release of this book ever since I read an excerpt. My only complaint is that it is too short...I read it twice in one night! But I knew when I bought it that it would be a quick read and I have no doubt I will revisit it many more times in the future.
No one is really spared from the authors' biting humor here, though Obama's political picks take most of the heat...especially the financial guys who don't know what compound interest is. Biden is a classic dimwit and even Sean Penn and other celebs make appearances. The Republicans aren't spared either...Dick Cheney will have you in stitches. A must read for anyone who enjoys political humor. Other countries even come out to play. A bit pricey for the lenghth, but you will read it more than once so well worth it.

Satire, Blackberry Style,
By
This review is from: Obama's BlackBerry (Hardcover)
As a short, coffee-table style book, this comic take on Obama's communication was hilarious in a lot of politically savvy sort of ways. If you didn't know who some of the characters were in the book, you wouldn't understand completely why they were so funny, but it still could make you giggle. Not that I completely understood who all of the people were, but I laughed at some references, such as to Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. I also laughed really hard at a forward from Sarah Palin to the president, along with a funny email communication about a Tickle Me Elmo. They are obviously satirizing many situations and people in our current political climate, and I found it to be really light, easy, and fun to read!

I laughed out loud again and again,
By Florida Walkman (pensacola, FL United States) - See all my reviews

It is just funny! Each page tops the one before it, some are funny only because a previous 'text' set up that page's joke. The jokes build as the book goes on.
A reviewer said that the book is not tough enough on the president, but it gets in plenty of jabs at the geek-in-chief.

Short and humorous,
By Cydney Rax "rmn1994" (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Obama's BlackBerry (Hardcover)
What makes the book fun is you know that Obama couldn't possibly be writing all these crazy messages to Biden, the Clintons, Michelle, Bush, Bin Laden, Abe Lincoln, Arnold S. (the gov), etc., but it's humorous just to imagine that he is. The writer does a great job pushing the envelope --and the book is light reading with a creative political spin. Obama's Blackberry will probably be enjoyed by anyone who loves (and gets) spicy political humor. And another good thing, the book is so tiny, it's easy to carry around and pass along to your friends. But let them read two pages, they'll be hooked and forced to buy their own copy.

I could have read for hours more; I laughed out loud numerous times. The Bill Clinton texts were the best, but I have to admit that the entire book was really funny. Wish it was longer.

This is an Entertaining & Hilarious fictional quick read!,
By Chris Cross "Chris" (Roswell, Georgia; USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Obama's BlackBerry (Hardcover)
This is an entertaining and hilarious fictional quick read! Basically, four comedians came together and wrote a "Book" as if it were Barack Obama's Blackberry phone during his presidency. The actual truth was before he became our president he wanted his Secret Service to have the CIA create an impenetrable Blackberry Obama could use during his presidency, which I believe was created. Don't quote me on that. Anyway, these comedians/authors create numerous texting dialogues with people in his administration for example Biden asking to leave early at 4:45pm one day to previous Presidents such as George W. Bush texting Obama asking if he had seen Barney at the White House, President Bush's Cocker Spaniel.
This is absolutely a great read and can be read by both sides of the issues because it is basic content and it doesn't paint Obama in a negative light, just his administration and everyone around him. For the price, you will not find a better read. |
