I am working in Corporate Finance and a lot of times, I have to do presentations for my co-workers and the clients. I always have to attend meetings and seminars that require knowledge sharing. So that means, a lot of talking, listening, and communicating. I am guilty using “unwords” such as umm, uhh, during my presentation. I participated at a workshop that Nili Peretz delivered about turning stage fright into energy to deliver messages with power, and that was one of the best experience you have had.

I personally recommend this book to all those people who want to improve their speech and presentation in front of a huge, or small audience. If you want to be confident and would like to be a great presenter or speaker; or if you just want to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, then this book is definitely a must read. This book offers a lot of great techniques that you can use at work, school, or anywhere public or private. It provided great examples so the reader would be able understand its message. This book will teach you the secrets of how to communicate effectively with your audience, without using “unwords.” It discuss about ways to not just talk and present but how to actually influence and persuade your audience. It will help you make your presentation exciting and interesting. It will help you understand why gestures, props, and understanding your audience play an important part of delivering your message.

I love any book which can give a decent amount of info on Speaking skills, Public speaking and Speech engineering. This book covers all three.

What do you gain from this book..

- Clarity on mastering hypnotic presentation

- The inside secrets of one of the outstanding speech constructors of our time Barrack Obama

- Brick by brick analysis with aptest examples (meticulous work)

- Human language deciphered to human language

Authors who have written about basic public speaking have indeed given us fantastic information. But Obama stands way ahead other public speakers.
Observing the speech once, I was baffled at the construct of a certain information presented by him. From then on, I have been in search of Obama's METHOD. Indeed lucky to find Obama's SECRET'S'

This book further is important as

- It is not something small. It is quite voluminous

- The writing is amazingly smooth. Reinforcing the points of discussion has got a fluidity. Appreciatable construction.

- Numerous examples of speeches

- Apart from other things, what caught me was the quoted books which directs us to further exploration

Gil and Nili Peretz have used in-depth research, as well as very clear real world examples, and step-by step processes to make the methods mentioned in his book very clear to the reader.

One particularly suitable area in which these skills provide insight, and where their application would be extremely helpful is in corporate management. As organizations become more and more diverse in a multitude of areas such as gender, race, age, cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, communication skills become ever more important in fostering a positive, goal-driven, cohesive corporate culture with motivated employees. Obama's Secret provides the tools to do just that.

One important tool that the authors bring to the table is the idea and implementation of what he deems the "four perspectives." These perspectives include the self-focused position, which focuses on "me", the "other" perspective which focuses on the "you", the outside, or neutral perspective, as well as the mediating position, which focuses on what all parties have in common. Gil and Nili Peretz, through examples efficiently and excellently show how these four perspectives can be used together to create a cohesive environment,in which all sides, despite any differences they may have, can work together for their shared goals.

More than just the oral communication techniques needed to motivate diverse groups of people, Mr. and Mrs. Peretz also show the importance of the thought process in developing these skills, as well as how to train the brain to be able to master these techniques naturally.

This book is truly great analysis on Obama's speeches with Lots of workable tips and something completely different!!!

Actually it’s a great biography of great Communicator President of United States Mr. Barrack Obama and how he succeeds at creating an intimate relationship with an audience of thousands of people. Also it is so amazing and my favorite points that “Simple words and short words are his secrets.” Thanks the Two greatest Authors for writing Obama's Secrets: How to Speak and Communicate with Power and a Little Magic.

I am not very good at small talk and being a room full of people I do not know. I get some great ideas from some parts of the book as how to be more comfortable in these situations and how to use different opening techniques as started opening statement with a “BANG” like a Power Open and the important factor of a powerful ending by a presentation with an unexpected twists or surprises. The tips seem so common sense but some of us just don't know them!! I learned MUCH from it and immediately applied it to my life.

The author writes about “THREE MAGIC” and How Obama uses it and says about rhetorical devices to communicate effectively that I LIKE most. The author goes into how to sound more pleasant on the phone and how to sound like a few knowledgeable person in almost any setting and gives some great advice regarding body language, facial expression, how to read people, and how to keep the conversation flowing.

This book is also easy to read and quick to get through. So, I want to say that this is definitely a great book on COMMUNICATION and COMMUNICATION PSYCHOLOGY. I highly recommend it!
