Definitely a must read for those who need to get their message out in a most efficient, succinct style. The authors using their expertise in the field of communication skills such as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), have broken down and analyzed President Obama's speeches to create a simple but powerful instructive outline to construct the most effective messages.

As an old scholar of NLP, I am reminded of how the creators of NLP created their theories and system through
a careful analysis of the therapeutic teachings, strategies and methods of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. who is still considered by many as the "Wizard".

Read this book and you too can be a "Wizard".[[ASIN:1456506366 Obama's Secrets: How to Speak and Communicate with Power and a Little Magic

We all speak, but how many of us really communicate? Are our messages being received by our audiences and making an impact, or (to borrow the cliché) are they simply going in one ear and out the other? Through their research of more than three hundred of President Barack Obama's speeches, as well as their expertise in the fields of Communication and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, co-authors Gil and Nili Peretz identify the techniques that this charismatic, globally-respected speaker uses himself, and show readers how they too can appropriate them in order to improve their own communication abilities.

As clearly outlined in the title, this book is about how the reader can learn the secrets of President Barack Obama to improve his or her ability to influence, persuade, and win over any audience - whether they be assembled in large auditoriums or at the dinner table. It is not a book about the president himself. But it does examine who he is as a person, and the story of his life, in order to explain how he has come to be where he is now: a man recognized as one of the most eloquent speakers of our era. Through actual examples of the speeches he has made since the 1990s, Gil and Nili Peretz lay out, in a simple and easy-to-understand way, how the reader can implement Obama's highly successful techniques.

The book is clearly divided into seven sections, each exploring a different set of techniques used by Barack Obama. But what sets this book apart from other bland "communication how-to's" is the co-authors' exploration of the way in which the mind works when it is the recipient of communication.

Excellent book. Easy to read and relate.

Whether you love or hate Obama's politics, there is no denying that he is a brilliant speaker from whom any aspiring public speaker can glean a few nuggets of inspiration. His background, as everyone's, certainly shaped many of the ways he approaches new challenges. And the authors did a great job infusing personal information about the president's background with segments from actual speeches made by Obama throughout his career.

There were many great speaking tips that you can get from a good book or course on public speaking would highlight, but each tip is punctuated by specific examples as they related to Obama and his public life. As I was reading through the book I was envisioning how I could apply each suggestion to my own life. I found myself making comparisons of my life to Obama's. And though we led very different lives with very different cultural backgrounds, I found there were a lot more similarities than I originally thought. I feel I will be able to apply some of these examples to the way I approach communication in my world.

The key to my own success is completely within my relationships with my customers and our communication. Though I will never be a public figure, nor will I be giving presentations in the national spotlight, the lessons I learned and the great examples featured will help me focus and fine-tune my own communication and speaking skills.

A well thought out book using a great public speaker. A must read for those looking to better understand our President, his skills in public speaking and how to apply his lessons to their own lives.

This book is awesome, starting from the table of content, the structure of the book is very professional, everything is working the way it should. There is a lot to learn from this book, the book explores different "secrets" that President Obama uses from his personal life and in his speeches that allows him to win even the opposition with his messages.

The book in general is very interesting, I didn't know much about Obama other than what the popular opinion would say on the social media as I tend to stay away from politics. One of the many things I learned from this book is Obama's "message engineering" and the toolkit as I could use the help in conveying my message across in my every day life.

I didn't notice until it was pointed out how his speeches has certain lyrical or poetic composition with emphasis in optimistic messages which then he repeats through the speech in different way which eventually stick in the mind even if you can't remember half the things he said after listening to one of his speech, you can still remember what he wanted you to remember. Also there is an emphasis in hope, optimism and positive message which helps a lot in with his position There is so much more to learn, I definitely recommend this book. I learned far more from this book than I did from my speech class back in my first years of college.
