I have every book written on Obi divination. This one is excellent. It is concise and gives all the information needed to get into this wonderful divination system. There are other books that are more complex, but this one is very clear and good. You can work with it.

What I enjoyed most about this book is that is concise and well-written. I really appreciated that Epega could say so much in such a informative way and still end up with a book that is very easy to read. (So many other Obi Abata books are either filled with fluff or very intellectual.) The editing is perfect. What I enjoyed the least about this book, is that he provides no full Obi Abata Iwure (Prayer). While its true that we say Akinmoran x 3 I think most Priests and Devotees would agree, the average person should, in fact, MUST use a full length prayer to ensure that they Deity in question has actually been invoked. Which brings me to my last criticism - Epega never tells who can invokes and queried through Obi Abata. Its for this reason that I think this book is more suited to the devotee w/ Spiritual Elders, as opposed to the average joe off the street. But still, a wonderful book to own.

Incredibly simple explanation of the Obi. So easy infact that my eight year old son has taken an interest and already memorized positions and odus! Props to Baba Epega for making such deep spiritual concepts easy to understand.

To few pages and incomplete information. I found here one or other interesting information, but most of the book, in my opinion is full of flat and superficial information.I didn't find explanation in how to cast the OBI, but, it could not be the books objective, however also no good or deep information regards concept and belief around this divine oracle and Old Yoruba tradition. As most of Cuban people the autor don't uses the true OBI seed as reference. They create a substitute using cowry and coconut shell. Well, nothing againts, but first, it is not Abata OBI and at least he could left always in the drafts, the 2 representations, the OBI and the alternative. Well I really didn't understand what was the Author's objective. Worst and end the book there is a reference for other book where apparently everything would be explained. Other mistake, "Ifa the ancient wisdom" is look like this one. However, I can be wrong, and in fact to be so stupid that I didn't understand the book. Could be a cheaper book. |
