5.0 out of 5 stars "The mother of all style guides!", July 28, 2002

This review is from: Object-Oriented Interface Design: IBM Common User Access Guidelines (Paperback)
This style guide was published by IBM in 1992 for the IBM/OS2 operating system. On 352 pages the reader will find comprehensive guidance for appropriate use of all known GUI controls. The guidance is still up to date and can be applied to Windows applications or any kind of GUI's. This book is an excellent reference tool for all user interface designers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gute Arbeitshilfe, February 18, 2011

This review is from: Object-Oriented Interface Design: IBM Common User Access Guidelines (Paperback)

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Software Style Guide, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Object-Oriented Interface Design: IBM Common User Access Guidelines (Paperback)
I'm one of the authors of this book. I was a member of the IBM CUA User Interface Architecture team that designed the interface for IBM's OS/2 operating system. This book was also used by Microsoft as the style guide shipped with the Windows Operating System developers toolkit. When Microsoft moved away from an object-oriented user interface (OOUI) to the current Windows graphical user interface (GUI), they published their own version of a style guide. The Windows style guide does not compare to this book.

This book is a classic that should be read by software developers working on all platforms.
