The artists who on this recording are three of the finest oboists that I have ever heard on record. Their beautiful tones match each other perfectly, and their ensemble is so superb that it is as if they have been performing with each other for decades. Besides the well known Beethoven Trios, this recording includes several obscure but delightful works by Triebensee, who wrote for this combination with great skill. Highly recommended!!

This is a superb recording by superb artists. This is one of those recordings that are, though perhaps not particularly brilliant or transcendant, fully satisfying. Each member of the trio has a rich and articulate voice, and all the pieces are played with proper grace and energy. I especially enjoyed the Beethoven trio, which is seldom heard in its original form, and the Mozart-Beethoven variations on "La Ci Darem La Mano," which is one of my favorite opera duets. (The theme is stated just the way Cesare Siepi and Hilde Gueden sang it!) The Triebnese trios are a very fine example of the classical style for the oboe and are not to be insulted simply because you've never heard of Triebnese. Listen, listen, listen!
