Product Description

Oboz Footwear is owned and operated by a small group of passionate industry veterans and life-long outdoor enthusiasts.  They define themselves by where they live and recreate. Their name comes from "outside Bozeman." Their home base, Bozeman, Montana sits on the northern edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem--18 million acres of some of the wildest land in North America. It is here, in the Northern Rocky Mountains, from the Wind River and Teton Ranges to the Bridgers and Spanish Peaks, with incredibly varied geologic features, and abundant wildlife such as grizzly bears, wolves, bison, that Oboz is found. They've adopted the phrase "True to the Trail" as their guiding principle. As a new company, they're faced with direction-changing decisions every day. Filtering all of their decisions through the "True to the Trail" test helps them stay consistent with the vision that led them to create Oboz Footwear.

The Oboz Traverse Mid BDry is a men's hiking boot. With just a gentle pull on the laces, the BFit lacing system securely sets your heel in place without added instep pressure. The TPU heel counter ensures that you return from your adventure with the same heel fit that you left with. Deep, strategically placed lugs keep weight low and traction high. Take the Oboz Traverse Mid BDry on your hike and you won't be disappointed.

I purchased these boots after seeing them at Trail Days in Damascus. After receiving them I have now hiked several hundred miles of the A.T. on these boots. One amazing feat (pun intended) occurred when I jumped into a river and walked up stream for a few minutes, when I got out, my socks were still dry inside the boots. The tread pattern has withstood all the abuse of the Trail, and this season it has been very wet. I have noticed that it doesn't grip wet rocks very well, but nothing grips wet rocks well. I have ripped the front toe of the boot, on wet rocks, but Oboze was very quick to rectify the situation to my satisfaction.
Nothing tears up boots faster than hiking the A.T., and these boots have stood up to the abuse.

I bought my Oboz the same day I was going on a 5 mile hike in Zion NP. The boots were pure comfort and no break in necessary.

just got back from a 3 weeks trip to tanzania. did the 7-day climb to kilimanjaro, and my only footwear for the entire climb (and the safari afterward) were these. it rained on us off and on for 5 out of 7 days of the climb, but not once i felt the rain in my shoes (and i wasn't wearing gaiters either). don't know if they are wind-proof by design or just warm by themselves, but i only had one thin pair of wool socks on the summit day (around zero F) and i was very comfortable.
the ONLY thing that might use an improvement is that due to its waterproofing, the tongue is connected to the sides, and it doesn't come out enough to create a big enough opening when you have a thick sock on.
but other than that, i recommend these boots very HIGHLY!

Bought these to replace a pair of Danners that never seemed to break in. They were comfortable right out of the box.
Went on a road trip the day after buying them and they were comfortable even after having them on for 14 hours.
Wore them shoveling snow and walking in deep slush and my feet never got wet or cold.
Only warning would be that the soles are very slippery when walking on a smooth floor (like in a tiled store) when they are wet (better now that the soles are ground up some from hiking, but were like ice skates when new).
Great boots, I would recommend them and would buy them again.

I got these for hikes in the Colorado Rockies this summer. And for that, they worked great with all the characteristics you want: lightweight, water resistant, and good grip. Stepped in a few puddles without getting my feet wet even when the water went up over the laces. I got a half size bigger than my street shoe to allow for foot swelling during the day. The biggest complement i can give them is that I never had to think about them while hiking. They let you enjoy the experience. There were no hot spots. The material of the uppers have the potential to make your feet sweat but the right socks will fix that. I was only doing day hiking of about 5 miles or so. Longer slogs may expose some weaknesses but that's not why I got these. The only design negative is that when it comes time to take them off, the laces get caught on the strap that they pass through at the top of the shoe. A piddling concern really.

I got these for Father's Day....a little gift for myself when I saw them on a Lightning Deal....anyway, I have been wearing them every day since I received them and love the way the fit and feel when walking...especially on concrete/hard surfaces. I wear hiking boots to work every day and these are very comfortable for that application. I am going to Colorado this summer and plan to do a little hiking...I think I am leaning towards wearing these instead of my Merrill Boots which I thought were very comfortable too....these have a different feel which I really like! I have not gotten too wet yet to try out the "Bdry" liner...was a little skeptical of that as opposed to Gore-tex, but I did read some reviews beforehand and didn't find anything bad.... For now, I am very happy with this purchase!

Never heard of Oboz brand so I was a bit apprehensive but the boot fit well and has great traction. I just returned from a trip to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and the boot held up nicely. It is waterproof as advertised and has great ankle support. I have a pretty weak ankle from too many to count sprains from sports but Oboz boot saved my ankle several times during hike on uneven terrain. One thing that kinda bothered me is that the sole is very thick and does not flex much. I don't "feel" the ground as much with this boot, maybe that's intended but it took a bit of getting used to.

Well, on the positive side, they look great and the lacing system is the best I've ever used. They also feel comfortable out-of-the-box and there aren't any obvious hotspots to cause irritation.

On the negative side, I decided to break them in around town for a few hours. I thought they felt fine, but when I took them off that night my feet were in real pain, right in the joints where my toes attached to the rest of my foot. I have never had that happen before, and was a little confused -- and ready to return them pronto! I decided to give them one more chance. I purposefully flexed the sole hard where the toes typically bend before putting them on, and I laced them way more loosely than the first wear. This gave me a much better result and I kind of liked them, except...

As many have noted (and I think under-emphasized), these boots are dangerously and dramatically slippery on wet surfaces - ice skating slippery. I nearly flew onto my butt in a restaurant restroom just from a little bit of water on the floor next to the sink. This is almost inexcusable in a boot designed to stay dry in water! I would never want to be wearing these things anywhere near water, let alone a rocky creek or rainy trail. I own boots from a number of other leading brands, and none of them are so ridiculously slippery.
