A primary reference for amateur astronomers moving beyond aesthetic viewing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Observational Astronomy for Amateurs (Library Binding)
This book is a must have "old school" reference for serious amateur astronomers wishing to move beyond the confines of aesthetic astronomical viewing. If you're searching for a disciplined subset specialty of astronomy such as solar, lunar, planetary, comet, binary star systems or variables, then this reference is worthy of investigation. Since purchasing this book the section on variable star observing, estimation of stellar magnitudes and related methodology have been very useful. The pages now highlighted, contain margin and foot notes for easy referencing. While some of the material may be outdated overall it sets a strong foundation for which to move forward.
