Excellent for beginner solar observers,
This review is from: Observing the Sun (Practical Astronomy Handbooks) (Hardcover)
This book contains almost everything you need to get initiated in the fascinating area of solar astronomy. Beginning from a historical review, the author makes a thorough exposition of the elements of solar observation (what is to be observed, how to do it), and even proposes some interesting projects that can easily be carried out by amateurs.

This review is from: Observing the Sun (Practical Astronomy Handbooks) (Paperback)
As an amateur astronomer, I am collecting all information possible to start observing, through CCD imaging, the Sun either in Ha and white light. I found this book a valuable resource, as it packs very good information in a concise way, what makes its reading very plesant and fast. Most of the book deals with white light solar observation techniques and its historical evolution. Some description of the solar physics are also presented but just enough to put you on the road, without too much details. But that is not, I think, the intention of the book. I can say that for my purpose, the book fulfill all the expectations. Fernando P. Guimaraes |
