This is an excellent recording which captures the beauty, drama, and melancholy of fado. The selected songs highlight the deep and rich sound of Rodrigues' voice and captures the sense of "sodade" and "mourna" which permeates this genre of music. The guitar and zither complement her voice beautifully to create a complete sound. It is music that is as complex and earthy as the orange-hued landscape of Portugal.
