5.0 out of 5 stars Obsession!!
In my opinion, Obsession is Forster's best novel ever! Ok, I have not read all of them yet, but I will! Back to Obsession, this book was the bomb with a capital "B". I loved it, by far this is my fav by Forster. Selena and Magnus were great together. Magnus is a man that does not take no for an answer! I loved him in this story, he is my idea of a great man...

3.0 out of 5 stars Promising
This book was promising, it had a nice premise and plot. The characters were great, but the verbiage would have you think this was maybe a historical fiction. The way they talked for the most part was unrealistic, don't get me wrong I'm not saying they had to talk 'ghetto' or use unfitting language, but I don't know anyone besides some elderly people who says things...

I loved it, by far this is my fav by Forster. Selena and Magnus were great together. Magnus is a man that does not take no for an answer! I loved him in this story, he is my idea of a great man. Even though he had some personal things to deal with, he still was a man to be reckoned with. And all he needed was the right women to show him the error of his ways. Selena was no miss perfect either, but Magnus helps her to learn that love can run deep. Obsession was an excellent read. Some may not like it but Forster has I writing style that grows on you! As you can see I'm a big fan. Much love Forster!

4.0 out of 5 stars Obsessed With Love, January 10, 2009
After a successful yet unrewarding life as one of the best stoke brokers on Wall Street, Selena Sutton decides it is time for her to put her life in order. She put relationships and family on hold to achieve monetary success but her life felt empty. She craved love and a family of her own. Selena uproots her life moving to a small town in Texas in hopes of finding a quieter life and the love and family she so desires. But Selena gets more than she expected when the Cooper boys roll into her life.

Prince Cooper is pure trouble and Selena wants nothing to do with him. Prince's ego will not allow him to believe Selena does not want him, becoming obsessed with making her his despite her relationship with his brother. Magnus Cooper is handsome and successful, the type of man women dream of including Selena. Unknown to Selena Magnus has been in love with her since the day she rolled into Waverly, the quiet Texas town they call home. But Magnus has demons with roots in family dysfunction. Will Selena and Magnus be able to create a life together despite the challenges placed in front of them. The outside forces determined to keep them apart.

Fans of Gwynne Forster romance novels will not be disappointed with Obsession. It is quality writing filled with plot twist that will keep you guessing through out the book. Selena and Magus are a likeable and readers will want them to share the Happily ever after despite all odds. The challenges the couple face both individually and as a couple will at times seem more than they can handle. Readers will enjoy seeing how these two manage to face all challenges including the ones they have placed in their own paths. Though I found the beginning of the book to be a bit slow, but once the story began to roll I was completely sucked into the lives of Selena a Magnus wanting to know how they will manage to navigate everything that is thrown at them. I throughly enjoyed Obsession and would recommend this book to anyone seeking the classic romance.

This book was promising, it had a nice premise and plot. The characters were great, but the verbiage would have you think this was maybe a historical fiction. The way they talked for the most part was unrealistic, don't get me wrong I'm not saying they had to talk 'ghetto' or use unfitting language, but I don't know anyone besides some elderly people who says things like 'Oh Darling' it made what could have been a great book really corny. Magnus took entirely too much off of Prince and his mother, I can understand wanting a parents love and protecting your sibling but, they let that man get away with murder and the ending was not what I figured it should be. Great plot but like I stated the verbiage was very unrealistic even for quote unquote high society people, it made the characters all seem stuffy and stiff givng them no real depth. Overall the book was okay.

1.0 out of 5 stars PAINFUL!, September 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Obsession (Mass Market Paperback)
Words cannot describe how painful it was to read this book. The story line is completely unbelievable and unsatisfying. Fortunately the book was given to me by a neighbor. Had I paid for this book I would have demanded my money back. The description of the book drew me in, but the storyline was a disappointment. Had the ages of the characters not been given I would have thought they were a couple of elderly people. Come on!

The story leading up to Magnus and Selena's love for one another was pretty much brushed over. More time should have been spent on dealing with the emotions behind them falling in love. The author just gave you a little bit here and a little bit there in reference to how their relationship initially began (a synopsis). Next thing you know they're married.

The biggest problem I had with the book was the fact that Magnus was such a gentleman and waited many weeks before he and Selena consumated their marriage. Please! Spare me. If you show me a man in this situation, a situation where his WIFE is seducing him, teasing him, and sending him messages that says she wants him physically then pulls away, and I'll show you a man that is getting it on with someone else. This book was published in 1998, it should have been more accurate in its portrayal of people living in the 1990's. I think you will be hard pressed to find ANY man willing to go without sex with his new bride for the length of time Magnus did.

Selena said she wouldn't have sex with Magnus until he said he loved her. I have one question, were these characters supposed to be based upon people living on planet earth? I truly don't think so.

I think Ms. Forster may be a wonderful writer, she had a wonderful idea when she wrote this story, but the execution of the story missed it's mark. ...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sadly, I didn't like it, October 3, 2008
By
It took me almost 4 days to read this book. That's saying quite a lot because I can easily read a book that I enjoy in a day and a half. This book dragged on unnessarily. Yet at the same time, it would jump to a different scene so quickly, that I had to reread to see if I may have missed something. I'm not giving up on the author, look how many books she has written. In fact, I'm planning on reading Beyond Desire next. I just didn't care for this one at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Ever, September 8, 2007
This review is from: Obsession (Mass Market Paperback)
O my goodness. This book was awful. I just have to vent on the silliness of the characters in this book. No one in their right mind would put up with what Mangus and Selena put up with from Prince and his mother. And Mangus and Selena are so childish to not communicate their true feelings for each other and work out their problems w/o all of the drama. There was just no satisfying ending to this mess of a story. This book has 376 pages which was 200 pages too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Yes, Possess me Magnus, June 7, 2002

Another steamy one by Gwen.
Selena was a spicy stockbroker and a temptress but she didn't realize how tempting she was until she met that sweet, sexy, passionate, and loving Magnus. Magnus is the kind of man that every woman wish she could have. He liked Selena from the moment he sat eyes on her and made his mind up right then to make her someone special in his life. His brother Prince should have been thrown in jail and never allowed out. He was a living nightmare walking. He felt that every woman wanted him when really no one wanted him not even his flakey mom but Magnus let him know in no uncertain terms that Selena was off limits. Magnus and Selena had a lot of obstacles poping up in their lives but because of the love and hot passion they had for each other, they were able to overcome each and everyone of them and cultivate there love to the highest height.
A can't put down romance. Full of emotions and trust me they will be pulled from you as you read Obsession.
