OMG!!!! This is spectacular. I didn't think anyone can do it but they give Beyond Twilight a run for their money. This is dark, moody and powerful. Now combine that with symphonic progressive metal and I am all ears. I read that Samuel Arkan from Virus IV wrote this album. The music and lyrics. I had no idea who this guy was but I do now. This album is brilliant. A concept album that you will rock your head to. This album is energetic and very exciting to listen to. The ballads are also worth listening to. Every song is well crafted. Everyone is on top of their game. The band is not new to metal. It's a collaboration of people in the Metal scene. Kelly Sundown, Oddleif Stensland, Magali Luyten, Rick Altzi, Liselotte HegtSongs to name the vocalists here. Songs: First Blood and Obsession are incredible. Get this people. If you like progressive metal then this is a no brainer. Get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD December 15, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
When I got this cd, I figure it would be good but nothing spectacular. For me personally, the best Heavy metal concept cd's were Kamelot's "Epica" & "The Black Halo" and Vanden Plas' "Christ-0" and "the Seraphic Clockwork". I also like some Symphony X, Aryeon and Avantasia, but Kamelot and Vanden Plas had the best concept albums. I loved the stories, song structure, instrumentation and vocal prowess in those cd's. So when I got Epysode's "Obsessions", I didn't think it would breach the top. I WAS WRONG!

This cd is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It tells a great and interesting story. I love that Sam Arkan (creator of Epysode) brought in 5 amazing singers to sing specific parts of the story. This aspect alone put it way above Avantasia's "the Wicked Symphony" (which I love). Each singer is amazing and bring their own, rich personality to their character parts. Also the music is top notch. It goes from hard & driving to soft & smooth to even a dark & ominous tone.

You can truly get entranced by the overall sound and feel part of the story. I truly recommend this cd to anyone who like concept albums. This is a perfect cd from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultra-Dramatic Symphonic/Electronic Metal! September 12, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This isn't your usual symphonic progressive metal. Personally I have little patience for progressive metal, and thankfully Epysode brings more than enough melodrama and grandeur to elevate this release above the pack. Not quite power metal, but soaring and atmospheric to the extreme. There is definitely a very creepy, almost gothic vibe throughout many of the songs. I get a distinct impression of The Phantom of the Opera where I listen to this, a feeling that is aided by plenty of semi-operatic choruses and organs. There are also many electronic touches that give the music somewhat of a futuristic vibe. The riffs are massive and thundering, sometimes bouncing with nu-metal energy, other times galloping along with power/thrash metal aggression. The music is heavily layered and every moment feels massive and epic.

Simply put, this album has something for everyone. If you want a sinister blend of everything excellent in metal, this album has exactly what you're looking for and more.
