An excellent guide for clinicians to the treatment of OCD.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders in Adults: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide (Paperback)
In the past ten years the concept of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) has changed dramatically from that of a rare and treatment resistant disorder to one of the most prevalent and treatment responsive of all psychiatric disorders. Along with this has been a rapidly expanding body of research and clinical information. Dr. Koran has pulled together the clinical literature and combined it with his considerable personal experience as Director of the OCD Clinic at Stanford to produce a much needed guide for clinicians. Starting with the approach to the patient through diagnostic considerations and treatment (including treatment refractory patients and patients with co-morbid disorders), Dr. Koran presents the management options and strategies and his recommendations which are solidly based on clinical data. The book is by no means dry, but is so well written that it reads like Dr. Koran is talking directly to the reader. This guide comes at just the right time and defines the standard of care for OCD.

This review is from: Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders in Adults: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide (Paperback)
A truly outstanding work by a sage clinician and researcher in the field of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders. The book covers classic OCD, in addition to the related disorders of Tourette's, Hypochondriasis, Trichotillomania (hair pulling), Compulsive buying, Kleptomania, Gambling, and others. This book is a perfect blend of useful clinical tips and academic background. It will be a useful tool for all clinicians, especially psychiatrists and mental health professionals. In addition, it is lucidly written and accessible to sufferers of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and their family members.
