About the Author

Peter David is a prolific New York Times bestselling author whose career, and continued popularity, spans more than two decades. He has worked in every conceivable media—television, film, books (fiction, nonfiction, and audio), short stories, and comic books—and acquired loyal followings in all of them. In the literary field, he has had more than a hundred novels published. He lives in New York with his wife and four children.

Keith R.A. DeCandido was born and raised in New York City to a family of librarians. He has written over two dozen novels, as well as short stories, nonfiction, eBooks, and comic books, most of them in various media universes, among them Star Trek, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Marvel Comics, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity, Resident Evil, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Farscape, Xena, and Doctor Who. His original novel Dragon Precinct was published in 2004, and he's also edited several anthologies, among them the award-nominated Imaginings and two Star Trek anthologies. Keith is also a musician, having played percussion for the bands the Don't Quit Your Day Job Players, the Boogie Knights, and the Randy Bandits, as well as several solo acts. In what he laughingly calls his spare time, Keith follows the New York Yankees and practices kenshikai karate. He still lives in New York City with his girlfriend and two insane cats.

Sarah Shaw read Greek and English at Manchester University, where she took a doctorate in English. She studied Pali at Oxford, and is on the steering committee of the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies. She is a mother, teacher, and writer. She practises with the Samatha Association of Britain.

I love this book. It is GREAT sequel (I have always wanted to see the mirror universe Kes). A lot of people are under the false impression that all of the characters in the mirror universe have to be complete opposites of those in our `normal' Trek universe. Wrong. That would be too simple. Some are completely different, and others are only minutely (example: in the mirror universe chapters of "Glass Empires", the Borg are still what they are in our universe, but there are a few differences - Borg King, diamond-shaped ship instead of a cube).

I know that there is going to be confusion for some because of Peter David's "New Frontier" chapters, but if you are confused, go out and read the previous books of "NF". They are some of the best ever Trek-themed novels.

As far as this timeline not following the "Dark passions" reality, no problem. As the TNG episode "Parallels" showed us, there are infinite realties out there. It is up to the reader to decide what they consider `canon' in their reality.

Another thing that I liked about the books is the fact that (even the sadistic characters) have a reason for doing what they do (like with the traitor in the VOYAGER chapters - when you read why they did it, it almost makes you agree with them!).

Also, the mirror universe, some counterparts are much more interesting than those in the regular Trek universe (example being that of the mirror universe Leeta. In the mirror universe, Leeta is not just a dumb Dabo girl, but a fighter and a very intelligent person).

I really hope that we will see a sequel to these great books!

Just for fun I borrowed this book recently from my local public library, and found a rather delightful surprise with respect to "Star Trek" fiction. While readers will not be surprised with the talents of Keith R. A. DeCandido, and especially, Peter David (whose alternative Romulan Star Empire tale worked well on several different levels), they will be amazed with the ample detail and convincing depictions wrought by first-time author Sarah Shaw in her brilliant visit to the alternate "Deep Space Nine" commanded by Terran Rebellion leader General Miles "Smiley" O'Brien. All three authors do a fine job in depicting the Mirror Universe as seen from the prisms of "Star Trek: Voyager" (DeCandido), "Star Trek: New Frontier" (David) and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (Shaw). While I'm not going to spoil the fun by revealing plot details to you, I will say that there is ample shipboard intrigue and excitement in store in all three novellas. Moreover, I would say that these are among the finer examples of "Star Trek" short fiction which I've come across. Long-time fans of "Star Trek" will not be disappointed, and most certainly will want to add this volume to their collections.

This was better than the first in the Mirror Series.

Partially because I love the DS9 and New Frontiers Characters but doubly so as I do not care for the Voyager crew and loved that story as well!

This is volume two of the mirror universe anthology. The action doesn't let up. In this one we get a fantastic Voyager story by R.A. DeCandido, a New Frontier story by Peter David and a DS9 story by Sarah Shaw. If only the regular universe stories were this dramatic! The action runs at a break neck clip in all the stories. Love, betrayal and high drama are rare in many of the Trek books. Other reviewers can give you plot descriptions. All I have to say is that this one is worth it's price. You won't be let down by all the twists and turns in this three short novel collection!

If you are a fan of the mirror universe; this book will entertain you. 3 new stories set in and containing characters from Voyager, Deep Space Nine and New Frontier. Deep down these are still the characters you know and love, but how the mirror universe has changed them might supsrise you. IF you are a ST fan, do pick up this book.

After reading the first book, Star Trek: Mirror Universe: Glass Empires, I could not miss out on reading this one! And I was not let down.
I have always loved reading alternate history, no matter the subject matter, and the Star Trek Universe is no exception! We get to see a an alternate universe scenario where the Voyager and Excalibur crews fit into the domination of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, and what has happened on Deep Space Nine since the Deep Space Nine Mirror Universe Episodes from the television series. But this is all I will type, as not to give away any further plot details. It’s a great book which I think many will enjoy!

I really wanted to give this book five stars. Really, I did. The story was well crafted and the characters were interesting. There is just enough of the normal ST universe to make it familiar. But there was simply too much gratuitous, senseless violence. Way more violence than any other ST book I've ever read. Yes, I understand that this is a mirror universe, so bad is good and good is bad and all that, but did they have to make nearly every lovable ST character a psychopathic murderer? If you buy, just understand what you are getting.
