This mat takes a long time to soak in water and the mat is not even. The bumpy strips of gell are a result and there is no smooth surface. The mat is very wet after soaking it in water and heavy. My dog refused to even go on it. I'm returning it!

I really hoped this would be a good thing for my dog, because he is double coated and really gets hot. But it is wet, and so I could only put it out in the kitchen where I have linoleum. My dog refused to have anything to do with it. Even with encouragement and treats he avoided it. He'd lie down near it, but not on it. If I'd been able to put it in a room he ordinarily likes to hang out in, maybe he would have given it a try. But he doesn't hang out in the kitchen, and he wasn't about to start. So this didn't work for our setup.

this mat is very similar to cooling wraps (bandannas,foot/wraps)
I use for MS problems. Soak the mat, hang it until dripping stops, then wrap & roll very lightly in a towel. The mat will feel dampish, use an old thin towel over it if your pet is reluctant to lie on it. It will provide cooling for about 36 hours.

Works as promised but my dogs don't seem to use it.....and it was over 100 degrees here the last week.
