This review is from: Occult Bondage and Deliverance: Counseling the Occultly Oppressed (Paperback)
This is an essential book of discernment and training. One must learn the difference between mental illness and possesion. Too many mistakes have been and coninue to be made in this area due to untrained individuls. Get this book, if you are walking in this realm of spritual bondage.

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful, useful book to help people to get free, February 18, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Occult Bondage and Deliverance: Counseling the Occultly Oppressed (Paperback)
This book is written by one of the pioneers in this modern age helping people get free from demonic bondage only through Christ.
(a second part of the book which I hardly read is written from the medical perspective by a Christian MD. I thought other writer's stance was too carnal to be very useful in this area of ministry. He made such an error on the first page of his part of the book that I am very leery of his part of the book, but Dr. Koch's (Theology) writings were great.
Very effective, useful information building on the theme of faith in and reliance on Christ being the only way of freedom out of bondage to demons.
His tone is compassionate and he writes concisely and powerfully and his exhortations have helped me to stay free, after being delivered by Christ from many kinds of occult bondage.
He teaches that even Christians can have problems with demons due to any involvement, knowing or unknowingly, in the occult, and shows clearly, step by step using scripture how to get free.

This review is from: Occult Bondage and Deliverance: Counseling the Occultly Oppressed (Paperback)
One of the main reasons I purchased this book was to get a solid, educated Christian view on demonic topics such as witchcraft and the occult. Another reason was because I was starting to obsess over the paranormal, so I wanted to put an end to that before it really had a chance to develop.

I will start off with what I think is the only negative attribute of the book, if it can be considered negative at all: This was written 40 years ago. It would be nice to have a book with a similar objective and scholarship but instead coming from this century. Having said that, this is still a phenomenal work, establishing many links between occult activities--whether "innocent" or intentional--and subsequent paranormal/demonic activity.

The author cites several examples gathered from his field work to build his case. Many of these examples are eerily similar to demonic events recorded in the Gospels and the book of Acts, with a few examples in particular being almost identical. Skeptics will scoff at most of these, but personal beliefs have no sway over whether or not an event actually happened.

Overall, the author's examples and discussions provide a great Christian viewpoint of the occult, the paranormal, and the demonic, as well as the power of Jesus to free people from their hold.

4.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable information for Christians who care to know.., April 27, 2008
This review is from: Occult Bondage and Deliverance: Counseling the Occultly Oppressed (Paperback)
This book provided invaluable, well written, concise information on the occultly influenced individual. I have done quite a bit of reading on this subject, but I found this to be very enlightening and helpful. I learned much more than I bargained for and was surprised at some of Dr. Koch's conclusions. This challenged many of the beliefs I have held about Christians being occultly posessed. A must read for any Christian who has ever felt intimidated by questionable circumstances and individuals who might be oppressed or posessed. This would also be a great resource for any church library.

This is a short book on how to counsel the demon influenced. It is mostly accounts of how he has handled various situations.

If someone has ghosts, strange obsessions or phobias, this is a good book to get yourself free.

We were pretty much skeptical of ideas like occult, satan, bondage and so on until we really started studying faith. This book helped bring us out of the world of make believe and into the real world which is, indeed, populated in part by people who are being held in the grip of these things.
