Book Description

January 15, 1995 0632037342 978-0632037346 2
Occupational Hygiene covers the interaction between man and his work environment insofar as it affects health. The author's aim is to explain the principles of occupational hygiene. It covers such areas as exposure to noxious substances in factories, injuries resulting from objects falling from a partially completed building, the effects of noise and vibration, scalding by machines, and irradiation of nuclear workers. The book focuses not on the medical treatment of such injuries, but with their assessment, measurement and prevention.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The book has no rival and should become established as the standard work on the subject; It will in any case provide those who use it with a text that is both stimulating and informative." Industrial Hygiene Digest on the First Edition "... a book which will probably become a standard work in its field." South African Medical Journal on First Edition

From the Back Cover

Occupational Hygiene concerns the interaction between man and his working environment in so far as it affects health. The purpose of this book is to provide a clear and concise account of the principles of occupational hygiene. It covers such areas as exposure to noxious substances in factories, objects falling from a partially completed building onto a workers head, the effects of noise and vibration, scalding by wayward coffee machines, irradiation of nuclear workers, and so on. It is not concerned with the treatment of such injuries, but with their assessment, measurement and prevention.
