Outstanding practice guide,

This review is from: The Occupational Therapy Examination Review Guide (Paperback)
This book gives a comprehensive review with rationals for all questions. It is extremely helpful to have a disk and practice on the computer, since OTR exams are now taken on the computer. I have a better understanding of how to interpret test questions. It's a must have book!

This book was an enormous help in my passing the NBCOT test. They explain all the answers, both correct and incorrect. The questions are formatted very closely to what you'll see on the real test and they provide you with the exact reference of where the test answer came from so you can pull out your textbooks and read up on that section in further detail.
Also, a CD (which has the same questions) is also included which for me was awesome because I prefer to learn using my computer. The CD pops-up the correct answer right away, so you don't have to flip to the back. PLUS, it offers a way to set up custom tests broken down by population, interventions, etc. When you take a test, it shows you how many you got wrong in each category so you know where your weak areas are! This book and the official NBCOT practice tests will help you tremendously!

This book is GREAT!!! The book is NOT cumbersome at all. In fact, the CD uses the SAME questions as the book. Each question that you answer is like 4 lessons. This book thoroughly explains why the answer is right, or wrong. Definitely effective in learning and retaining material. Highly recommend!!

Very helpful guide!,
This review is from: The Occupational Therapy Examination Review Guide (Paperback)
This is a very good book to use to study for the exam! I used this to study for the NBCOT exam and found it very helpful. The questions were similar to those used on the actual exam, and the answer sections were full of valuable information. Not only did you get explanation of the right answer to each question, but the book also gave you information on the other answers as well. There is also a really good mix of types of questions - from intervention, evaluation, to program development and management type questions. Very comprehensive, and I felt it really prepared me for the real exam.

This book was so helpful while preparing for my exam. The author explains why an answer is correct and why the other choices are wrong. I found that very beneficial.

I used this book for extra questions to take the new 2010 version of the exam with the CS questions. Although this book did not provide any of those types of questions, I liked the variety and numerous questions offered by Johnson in this older edition. Worked for me - passed the test on my first try. Either way it's not a bad deal, especially if you get it used. Make sure you get the CD.

This book was wonderful for the Board Exam review. It was full of relevant information, and it gave a rationale for every aspect of right and wrong answers. I highly recommend it!

Good practice tests,

This book helped me to prepare for the NBCOT exam. The questions in the practice tests were formatted like on the NBCOT exam. Even though there were totally different questions on the NBCOT exam, I was able to reason through the questions from practicing these exams. There is one thing I didn't like about this book. It advertises over 1000 exam questions, however I noticed that after taking the first exam, some of the questions appeared in the remaining exams in the book. The fifth exam in the book contained no new questions, just questions from the first four exams that I had already seen before and knew the answers too.

Great book for your preparation,

This is the only review guide that I used for my preparation apart from the standard books one uses. It has questions on different populations and questions that hone your reasoning skills. I feel the questions here are almost similar in nature to the questions asked in the exam. Doing the test exams give you are good idea if you are ready for the final exam and how well you are progressing and the different domains you need to focus on. I highly recommend this book.Good luck!!!

Book itself was a little cumbersome to use. CD was better. Overall, questions did not even seem remotely similiar to the test exam questions. Unfortunately, there is not much better out there either.
