This looked like a sturdy item. After there seasons, the glass thermometer rod slid down inside and became useless. I would have pryed the case apart to re-glue the thermometer rod but the clear plastic window was heavily yellowed. This is just more inferior junk from China. Doesn't USA make make these with good quality?

Well protected in the housing. Purchased for science kits growing underwater grasses for the Chesapeake Bay. Needed something sturdy. This does the trick. Quick shipping too.
