Fun Side Scroller for the Wii with an Ocean Theme, December 16, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ocean Commander (Video Game)
My seven year-old loves this game. He only recently really began getting video game controls. After powering through Ghostbusters, which had a fairly simplistic control scheme, he's really enjoying Ocean Commander.
I like it because it gives him an idea of the games I grew up with. The learning curve was easy, and he's now having a great time blasting ships and sharks and taking on level bosses.
The game has bright, vivid colors. There is a lot of action on the screen but the player is pretty tough, and once he figured things out he began dying less and having a lot more fun.
For a seasoned player of side-scrolling arcade games, this probably won't be much of a challenge. For kids new the genre, this is a great intro.
The violence is fairly abstract. The only live things in the game so far are metallic sharks. The sea theme has him hooked.
He shouted: It's a robot ammonite! as he took on one level boss. Fun.
