5.0 out of 5 stars Tunds voice is like chocolate, - smooth and sweet
Ocean Drive is one of those MUST HAVE albums.

Tund has one of those voices that just gets better each time you hear the album. It's like chocolate, so smooth and so sweet,

A great CD to play at dinner parties, drive to or just chill out on a warm balmy evening.

If this one is missing from your collection, you really don't have a collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars CD received.
Two ups: 1. Received CD in a timely manner. 2. It played perfectly. Three downs. 1. Shipped in slim line case 2. wrapped in paper. 3. Front of CD reads FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY NO SALE ALLOWED MUST BE RETURNED ON DEMAND OF COPYRIGHT OWNER. These things were not mentioned in description.

5.0 out of 5 stars uplifting and rejuvenating, September 8, 1999

Wonderful music. As I traveled to Europe for the first time, a goal was to return with music that represented the countries I visited. The Lighthouse Family's Ocean Drive was perfect. Personally, I find their music peaceful, uplifting and rejuvenating. Having some personal issues that seem huge right now, this is perfect music by which to "heal".

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite, May 22, 2005

I expect to be listening to this album / artists in 25 years time. Although the music/words sometimes run 'deep' it is light hearted, uplifting and has tunes you will sing all through the day. A family favorite. One wants to sway to to many songs and others put your dancing shoes on and yet it is amazingly the type of album you can just sit at sunset and relax to. Even our elementary age kids love it and we played it all through a family vacation in Mexico, playing it non-stop for 10 days. I created a heritage DVD memory collection for my dad's 70th and each 'branch' of the family tree chose a favorite to incorporate. We chose 'Lifted' and 'Heavenly'!

4.0 out of 5 stars Needed A Kickstart, March 16, 2001

When this album was first released in the Uk it didn't really have any impact until the single Lifted was released for the second time, and then we went mad. Lighthouse Family have a crisp new sound that is upbeat yet laid back at the same time. Ocean Drive contains the singles Ocean Drive, Lifted, Lovin Every Minute and Goodbye Heartbreak. This is a good album to chill out to and several years later this cd is still a resident in my player

5.0 out of 5 stars One Genre By Itself, March 20, 2007

Lighthouse Family is an English two man band made up of vocalist Tunde Baiyewu and keyboardist Paul Tucker. Ocean Drive is their debut album.

I remember vividly Tunde Baiyewu's voice stopping me literally in my tracks. I remember when Ocean Drive was the number one song on the radio. I remember nights lying in bed at University and listening to the Lighthouse Family and feeling happy and sad and the same time without either emotion topping the other. I remember finding out Tunde is originally Nigerian. I remember my posters of him as my crush. I remember desperately wanting to live on Ocean Drive.

Before Lighthouse Family, I wasn't into the easy listening genre. I didnt quite get what that genre meant. After Lighthouse Family, I understood. It is easy music, soothing, gentle, uplifting and quiet without being boring. And even after I understood the meaning of the genre, no other singer, band or music fits in that category in my mind except Lighthouse Family. For me, they define the genre.

Tunde's voice is a mix of clouds and melted chocolate; airy, heavy, luxurious and hypnotic at the same time.

Some songs are stonger than the others. 'Ocean Drive' is a classic. Paul's beginning strains to that song will stop me anywhere, many years later.
'Lifted' is like a gospel choir song but it is so great, fun to dance to and the lyrics are inspiring.
'Loving Every Minute' is great to sing along to and to lightly bob your shoulders to.
'The Way You Are' is a gentle tune with positive lyrics.
'Keep Remembering' is a blues-y oldie kind of song you will fall in love with.
and 'What Could Be Better' is another fun, earthy, slow but wonderful song.

The rest of the songs are good. Tunde's voice can probably redeem anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something incredible happening, August 4, 2005
This review is from: Ocean Drive (Audio CD)
This debut album by the Lighthouse Family is one of those compilations that will slowly grow on you. I was actually introduced to this group through their second album, but this album shows where the quality originated.

Unique and beautiful are words that come to mind when describing songs like 'Lifted' and 'Ocean Drive'. The overall album is set out to near perfection.

Recommended to anyone interested in plain good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, July 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Ocean Drive (Audio CD)
If you like rich vocals, strong melody, and upbeat tunes then think about Lighthouse Family. Both Postcards and Ocean Drive are strong CD's. Although Tunde has a unique voice, I hear some similarities to Seal's voice and M People's beat (also British bands). The CD's are strong all the way through. Great Summer music for hanging out with friends. Highly recommended.
