Fast forward a month or so. I had purchased a beautiful half-moon mustard gas male about the same time my roommate had purchased her black crowntail, and both had been living happily without the use of Betta Spa. I was doing a water change one night using a plastic tube when my betta swam up to it and got sucked in and stuck. I had to get scissors and carefully cut him free. When I got him out, he was completely unresponsive and I was afraid he was dying because not only was he unable to move, his ghost shrimp tankmates rushed over to pick at him when I placed him back in. Since he was still breathing, I quarantined him. Without other medication on hand, and with all the pet stores closed for the day, I decided to try the Betta Spa because, well, I had nothing to lose.
The next morning he was still alive, despite missing half his scales and with rips in his tail fin. He even made an attempt at eating. The next week showed remarkable progress as he began swimming again and eating everything in sight. He was back to normal, though still missing large patches of scales, in two weeks from the incident. There was no visible infection at all. I was extremely impressed with Atison's Betta Spa after that, and will be purchasing and using it for all my future fish.
dilluted as well, instead of full strength. I base this on making my own from a tea.
It is 125ml bottle which converts to 4.2 ounces. I should have researched the ingredients as well,
before buying. Of course they don't want to tell you that....
It has a couple of chemicals in it. Sodium Benzoate for one.
Sodium Benzoate is a preservative and some google info claims
it is cancer causing.Preservatives can't be good for our cells let alone a tiny fish.
I understand the companys need to preserve the product for shelf life, but sorry,
that can't be helping the fish to heal. It also has Sodium Hydroxymethylglicinate whatever the heck that is.
For these reasons I will not buy again.
I have had better results with buying Indian Almond leaves and steeping them like a tea,
not boiling, and then saving it to add to fresh water. I use a small amount of the tea, only enough
to turn the water light amber, OR I sometimes just put a SMALL piece
of Indian Almond leaf,on top of the water. ( I buy here on Amazon or on Ebay) ,,,,,
The leaf piece does float there and eventually sink and turns the water amber. I make sure the size
I break off the leaf is not too big depending on the tank or fish bowl size, so the water is not
too alkaline and dark colored. This I believe in excess, can cause the water ph to be wrong, for the fishe's fins and scales.
It does take time for it to leach out of the leaf and turn the water light brown.
About a day. The water then has the anti bacterial healing quallites of the leaf.Read more ›

I like it. I have so many products for my Betta who had a serious life threatening case of fin rot. I use them alternately and keep him in clean conditioned heated water. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Janet
Awesome product. Betta perked up almost immediately, albeit he hasn't started making any more bubble nests than usual (he rarely makes 'em). Read morePublished 7 months ago by SB
