5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful production, November 2, 2005
This review is from: Ocean of Rememberance (Audio CD)
I have had this CD for at least 7 years and continue to listen to it with regular frequency. It is due to this CD that I continue to browse Amazon for Turkish Zikr and Sufi Music. I've shared it with my family and colleagues all of which admire it greatly. For those interested in Turkish, Sufi Music or New Age World music, I would say this an essential part of your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Divine Breath, July 14, 2009
This review is from: Ocean of Rememberance (Audio CD)
Of the many recordings of Sufi dhikrs, this is probably the best one to support the practice of rhythmic breathy exclamations, known to be efficacious via oxygenation and concentration. The solo voice of Sufi shaikh and clincal professor Orüj Guvenc and choral voices are accompanied by ud, ney, rebab, saz, and bendir instruments. The intimate recording differs from concerts of Turkish Mevalana groups The recording is infectious and our own breathing is tracked with the repetitious phrases. The somewhat slow pace and soft voicing is characteristic of Turkish and Syrian Sufi music. Above this ground soars the song of the ney flute. This powerful recording is worth a search to obtain a copy.
