Gorgeous design, but unpractical for most uses,

I bought this fish tank from a LFS (local fish store) because I knew it was a great find, being on sale for half-off. This tank is gorgeous. That being said, keep in mind that its overall shape (tall cylinder) might be not the best choice for most fish-keeping (a short-long tank is preferred in most cases because it has more surface area). In my opinion the best feature this tank has is the hidden hardware (heater and filter behind the "reef" wall), and the worse is the size (very small water volume, approx. 5 gal.) and shape, which limits its use.
PROS - very unique design, gorgeous, hidden hardware, hidden cables. CONS - small volume, tall cylinder shape might limit use, hard to clean. ---- Update 08/18/2009 No leaks or major issues so far. Some of the colors faded a little, but I contacted the vendor and they informed me that a replacement "reef" can be ordered for about $40 + shipping. |
