file broken until further notice,
This review is from: Ocean Waves: Calming Sounds for Baby's Bedtime (MP3 Download)
I have tried to download this three times since 4/27/08 and each time the file ends abruptly at 20:08. The first 20 minutes sounds good, though...
I have contacted Amazon and they have refunded me and suggest calling mp3 support before attempting to download again. I don't see why they don't remove the link to the mp3 until it is fixed. I'm tempted to buy the disc but, $13 vs $1? I'll wait a little longer and try again and post when it is fixed...

A previous post said the file was broken. It must be fixed now. I downloaded it and it works fine. I played it all the way through. It's a great recording.

Your mileage with your baby may vary, but our little one found this very calming, and we found it an amazing replacement for the "hair dryer" recording we had been using previously. Even better, when I played it on our 6 channel surround system at just the right volume, you could forget you were listening to a recording, and it sort of sounded like I was vacationing near the ocean!
The long runtime was great too, back when she really needed a lot of help to sleep, she needed a LOT of help, and even the short space of quiet while the CD player jumped back to the beginning was not too jarring, as the recording is very gentle and relaxing. It ALMOST sounds like a break in the waves, if you couldn't hear the CD player ;)

Don't buy this if you are looking for long play-time,

This recording is being falsely advertised as running 1hour and 18 minutes. It is actually only 20 minutes long. I am very disappointed and will be seeking a refund. If you are like me and are looking for a long recording for your baby's room - look for it somewhere else.

This CD was PERFECT for our white noise. No spikes in sound and was exactly what we wanted for our son. We ordered this when he was just a few weeks old, and now I am ordereing our 2nd copy. He is now 9 months and I think we have almost worn it out!! We have grown so use to hearing this, my husband and I now need it!! It is absolutly wonderful. We couldn't be happier with it. And to top it all off, it still works like a charm to get him to sleep FAST!!

Perfect white noise CD for sleeping babies,

I tried 2 other white noise CD's to help my baby sleep and this one was exactly what I wanted and works perfectly. It is exactly what the description says, calm and soothing with no volume spikes.

I went ahead and bought this one, since I want waves without birds :-), and wanted to note that the length is 78:02, or 1:18:02 if you want it in hours instead of minutes. So, they seem to have fixed that, or else the problem is intermittent. Opera 9.64, WinXP, for the troubleshooters.

Excellent -- but NOT fixed,

This is the best of the surf recordings I have downloaded from Amazon. It seems to contain more low-frequency content than other recordings, which makes for a more relaxing overall sound, and it is relatively free of the main drawback of other recordings, the "local pool" effect, the sharp-sounding action of the water in the immediate vicinity of the microphone.
However, as of 12/25/2008, the file is STILL truncated to 20:08. The actual size of the downloaded file is 44.176 MB, but the size of the file shown in my Amazon Your Media Library screen is 166.97 MB. This size difference works out to exactly the length difference between the actual 20:08 and the advertised 1:18:02. MP3 download tech support will refund your money if you complain, but Amazon is apparently unwilling to fix this. Since all other recent reviews of this download except one report the truncation, I have to think that the reviewer who stated that the recording has been fixed was either mistaken or perhaps lucky enough to download a version that was only available for a short while.

I bought this to mask the neighbors noises and out of all of the ocean waves tracks I have downloaded, this is by far the best for me.
Adults can benefit from white noise or music to sleep so don't let the title steer you away. Anyhow, I've used it with ear buds and with computer speakers (a Sansa Clip+) and this is a very natural track. No obvious digital repeats or other extraneous digital noise which is common with sound machines and many white noise tracks (got rid of the sound machine a couple of years ago, some white noise tracks are very tinny). For the price, you can't beat it. I set it with a couple of others on repeat and play it all night and I do feel more rested. One thing to keep in mind is to adjust your equalizer settings properly on your MP3 player. Many of the "babbling brook", "mountain stream" and "rain" tracks seem to have a lot of extra digital noise and some have a tinny sound so if you can deal with ocean waves that are more natural with variations just like the real deal, this is the track for you. I think the fact it is more natural helps my brain work with it. I've taken other measures to maximize my sleep so it's not this track alone that is helping but it's a major reason for better sleep. After about 5 1/2 months of using this track, trying others, I keep coming back to this one to aid in getting to and staying asleep. Now I just wish other factors would allow me to stay in sleep longer, that's just not something white noise, sleep aids (like Valerian Root) or anything else can help but that's beyond the scope of this review.

Perfect for baby nights,

This is a great CD to provide background noise while baby sleeps. As the CD insert says, it is only the ocean waves-no birds, boats, etc that could cause disturbance. It has 78 minutes of waves & I put it on repeat all night to keep my little one sleeping peacefully. Great purchase. I will take this with us on any overnight visits we go on as well.
