Book Description

May 1991
This book has been compiled from talks the Dalai Lama has made at various venues around the world. His thoughts are at once lively and profound, for, surprisingly to some who first meet him, His Holiness has a refreshingly wonderful sense of humour. The crucial necessity for world peace, including the overriding threat of nuclear weapons, and the need to show concern for the environment are interwoven, and should be read by anyone who cares about the faith of our increasingly interdependent and imperilled earth.

More About the Author

His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was born in 1935 to a peasant family in northeastern Tibet and was recognized at the age of two as the reincarnation of his predecessor, the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. The world's foremost Buddhist leader, he travels extensively, speaking eloquently in favor of ecumenical understanding, kindness and compassion, respect for the environment, and, above all, world peace.

This review is from: Ocean of Wisdom: Guidelines for Living (Hardcover)
I found this book to be very enlightening and thoroughly inspirational. It's contents, simple thoughts on peace, compassion, and love provide a basis through which daily meditation and and self thought can occur. It's messages of peace to all mankind are an invaluable source of stability in otherwise unstable times. It's messages if taken properly will bring peace out from within to be spread worldwide.
