Editorial Reviews

Review

"Judges felt these two latest offerings from the OceanLife series (the Caribbean and the Western Pacific) would both make excellent reference companions to a classroom unit of study." -- Technology & Learning, 12/97

From the Publisher

Over two years we collected film on the majority of fish species present throughout temperate and tropical Caribbean waters, making this volume the most complete video reference on the marinelife of the region available anywhere in the world. This was the first volume in the series, in which we added coverage of the taxonomy and invertebrate phyla a major undertaking for any publisher since there are hundreds of thousands of invertebrate species in the planets oceans. This effort to expand our coverage while remaining in the constraints of a single CD ROM, were part of the reason that this volume began to cover fish families, rather than fish species. Given our goal of documenting the presence and general state of health of marine fishes, with the need to constrain our video to fit on a single CD ROM, while still producing interesting films of the regions marine life we felt that orienting our coverage around families of fishes was the best we can offer until DVD offers more disk space.
