Review
"Eastern Pacific begins as a beautiful slide show with musical accompaniment. Using its visual index, you can watch narrated QuickTime movies on every type of bony fish found from the Gulf of California to the Galapagos Islands...All in all, this CD's a great buy. It's like having a nature documentary at your fingertips and under your control." --
MacHome Journal, 9/98...whether you are a scuba diver or not, the journey is colorful and fascinating, with more than one hour of video. ...all of Sumerias titles awaken the sense of wonder that, for me, is often the first step toward greater understanding. --
San Diego Tribune, 7/98..hours of underwater video footage, chronicling the captivating cavorting of undersea denizens from skates to sea cucumbers, plus a slew of large and luscious still photos. --

With the exception of a small number of PBS style documentaries, this relatively barren marine region has been little documented despite its close proximity to large US population centers. The stony reefs of the region, surrounded by murky, sediment rich, cold waters do not attract large numbers of beach-bound tourists, or even diving tourists. The rich waters have, nevertheless attracted large numbers of commercial fishing vessels that have largely destroyed the marine ecosystems in the region. Despite a lack of specific diversity, the marine inhabitants of the region are among the worlds most striking marine populations. We are pleased to publish this comprehensive documentary treatment of the sharks, rays, and fishes of the region and hope that readers will see this for what it is, a first effort to record the wildlife of this region, in what will be an ongoing publication.
