Smashing Pumpkins Adore Super Deluxe Unboxing Video

The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most popular alternative rock bands of the 1990s, mostly thanks to the success of second and third albums Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. At the height of their fame they guest-starred in a memorable episode of The Simpsons.

Editorial Reviews

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history having sold more than 30 million albums, and
won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released Gish, their influential and platinum debut in 1991, which was
followed by albums including the nine-time platinum Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and the four-time platinum Siamese Dream, as well as the
platinum certified 1998 album Adore. The pivotal group's many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio,
influencing a whole new generation. The PUMPKINS returned in 2007 with their acclaimed sixth album Zeitgeist. They have since remained on the cutting
edge of music and technology with various online releases. In June 2012, the band released their acclaimed album Oceania, via Martha's Music/EMI
Label Services/Caroline Distribution. Marking THE SMASHING PUMPKINS' 7th studio record, it is 'an album within an album,' part of their 44-song workin-
progress Teargarden By Kaleidyscope. Oceania entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4 and earned the #1 spot on the Independent Albums

At Barclays Center, the Pumpkins' singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino performed their acclaimed OCEANIA CD in full, followed by classics and deep cuts from their body of work for the second half of the show. The Pumpkins were backed by visuals prepared by Evans, whose most recent project was assisting Roger Waters on the newest staging of 'The Wall.' The OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC package is directed by Milton Lage and was produced by Rock Fuel's Barry Summers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tales Of An Exposed Belly October 13, 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
It took the better part of a decade and a myriad of line-up changes to pull it off, but with the release of last year's "Oceania," Billy Corgan finally achieved commercial and critical acceptance again with The Smashing Pumpkins. As alternative rock's self-appointed curmudgeon, Corgan has fought an uphill battle to be taken seriously for decades now, and it's with that mindset that he took to the road with his current line-up (Jeff Schroeder on guitar, Nicole Fiorentino on bass and Mike Byrne on drums) and an expansive (and expensive) stage set-up to perform "Oceania" in its entirety, from front to back, night after night. Whether they wanted to or not, audiences would have to ultimately accept this version of the Pumpkins as the real deal. This set captures their December 10th performance in New York City, completely unedited at 24 tracks long.

Sounds like: A healthy compromise of Corgan's past and his vision for the future.

The Good:

- Not only are you getting the rock-solid "Oceania" in its entirety, but a good chunk of Pumpkins classics. The second half of the set is as devoted to well-worn radio staples like "Disarm" and "Tonight, Tonight" as it is to slightly deeper cuts like "X.Y.U." and "Hummer."

- The "new" Pumpkins more than hold their own, effortlessly pulling off "Oceania" while giving new life so the classics as well.

- The visuals are a real treat, especially during "Tonight, Tonight" which recalls the song's iconic music video.

The Bad:

- Billy's skin-tight wrestling shirt gives way to copious amounts of muffin top and coin-slot. Next time, leave the skin-tight outfits to Nicole.

- Billy is clearly phoning it in on the likes of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and "Cherub Rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars A much needed live document of Smashing Pumpkins October 29, 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Despite being one of the biggest bands of the 1990s and 2000s, and having a vast amount of quality bootlegs available, the scant amount of officially released Smashing Pumpkins material released has always been something of a disappointment. This (along with the live disc in the band's recently released The Aeroplane Flies High box set) finally set that straight.

The album and DVD both present the same show. Filmed in Brooklyn in 2012, the concert sees the band doing something fairly bold: playing their most recent studio album (Oceania) live from beginning to end, followed by a set consisting of Smashing Pumpkins classics, deep cuts, and covers.

Obviously, the biggest draw here is the DVD. For this tour, the band erected a giant orb in the middle of the stage which displayed 3D visuals alongside the music. While this seems very gimmicky, the technology is flawless and truly does add to the concert experience. While I fond the album Oceania to be a little limp, the extra "oomph" it gets played live compared with the stunning visuals really made me appreciate the new material. A definite must-have for any Smashing Pumpkins fan.

From Siamese Dream, I followed the Smashing Pumpkins like a puppy. I enjoyed almost all of their material. When they reformed again, I was reluctant, but I watched and listened. Then they reformed yet again. With this latest line up, the music is more tight than it has ever been. Oceania is the finest album they have ever released, including Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie. Just to get this compilation to have the live CDs for your car is a great investment.

If you have never heard Billy and Co. play live, you don't know what you are missing. It is raw, tough, melodic, energetic, and heart felt all at the same time. Billy does it again with this live set, and I encourage you to buy it if you have never experienced one of history's greatest bands live.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic treat for a fan July 11, 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
A fantastic treat for a fan. The disc, I mean. I was embarrassed by the show. I'm trying to show my kids the awesomeness of Billy, but all they see is his fat belly hanging out. He's not very fat, just needs to wear a shirt that fits. Nonetheless, it is full of wonderfully re imagined old material and one incredible cover. The 1st disc is pretty much identical to the studio album, but with richer sound.

Great live show from Smashing Pumpkins. Set list is fantastic, w/ the full Oceania album on the front end and Greatest Hits set on the second half. Sound quality on CD and DVD are superb, and the video quality on the DVD is also quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars They SOUND AMAZING LIVE! December 3, 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
A really solid album. I liked it better than Oceania--which may sound strange because this is Oceania--except LIVE. But they really sounded like they were pushing harder with their sound and instruments with a Huge crowd of people in front of them. PLUS the second disc is a bunch of their bigger hits LIVE.
