A child's dream; a mom's nightmare., November 13, 2008
This review is from: Oceans & Art Activities (Arty Facts) (Paperback)
My 8-year-old son checked out this book at the library. He has been engrossed in it since. I didn't pay much attention to what the book was about, although I was beginning to get curious because he's not much of a reader. But he piqued my attention when he came in asking for old socks, nylons, glue, sand, cardboard boxes, wires, balloons, paint, tin foil, saran wrap, tissue paper... and oh, yes, seaweed. Very intriguing and educational for a child, very scary for any parent who wishes to have a clean house. However, if we really wanted a clean house, we wouldn't have kids, right? So I have to give this book 5 stars for captivating my son's interest and educating him in both art and oceanography.
This book has 24 art projects, each including some science information written at a kids' reading level.

Is this a great series, or what?, February 17, 2008
This review is from: Oceans & Art Activities (Arty Facts) (Paperback)
The "Arty Fact" series is one of our family's favourite activity books. The projects are challenging enough to be fun for the whole family, and imaginative enough to inspire our 2 and 5 year old sons. Best of all the art activities also include hard science, so you learn as you create. "Oceans and Art" is our favourite in the series -- and is a must-have for those days at the beach when the sun won't cooperate and they kids are forced to stay inside.
