5.0 out of 5 stars Deep conflict May 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Here is a sweet story with appealing characters. Maria, the English girl who never left her village, and can't say NO when asked to help others, baby-sit, cook, paint,... and Dino Rossellini, the dashing singer who mesmerizes crowds with his voice and his charm. How can Maria not fall in love with the man every woman wants? And yet, how can she keep him, knowing his commitments, career, and glamorous life demand he leaves her? Would Dino dare to give up his triumphal success for true love?
What a fantastic conflict between two protagonists so deeply attracted, yet tortured by their attraction. Helen Scott-Taylor weaves a lovely tale with her smooth style, emotional dialogues, and subtle sensual tension. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cinderella Romance... more than that!! May 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I got this book and thought, "I don't know about this book, it might not be what I thought it to be." It was much more!! I loved it!! Another one of my vacation & lazy day reads that made me feel happy and elated for the characters!!

The story starts out with Dino finding out some hard news, and needs solitude to think about his past and his future. So he goes to a cottage like home in the coastal region that gives him exactly what he wanted, solitude and time to think, plus much more! When Maria sees this man she knows immediately that something is plaguing him. But she wonders what, so she makes it her goal to figure it out and attempt to fix whatever is plaguing him. They both find that what they thought they wanted is not what they wanted at all. They find dreams, even through all of the bumps in the road.

If you want a heartfelt and lovely book, that makes you smile, this is your book...

5.0 out of 5 stars Opposites attract- A terrific book! May 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Opposites attract in this terrific book! Wow, an incredibly well written tale of two people from different sides of the track- the hero a wealthy Italian, the heroine a penniless servant- but the sparks and the romance fly. Helen Scott Taylor hit this out of the ballpark- a wonderful book sure to be a bestseller. Get it now. I highly recommend Oceans between us:)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Well-Earned Happily Ever After June 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Oceans Between Us reminded me of the Harlequin Romances I read when I was younger. What I realize, now that I'm older, is that many times, the hero and heroines of those old romances didn't really earn their Happily Ever After. Helen's book changes that. Both the hero and the heroine have to face up to some harsh truths and make decisions and sacrifices to have the happily ever after that they want. They face obstacles and opposition from people they never expected to stand in their way, but they keep working for what they want.
Oceans Between Us is a sweet romance that reflects how real relationships are full of give and take and compromise. By the end of the story, I was confident the couple would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, and for me, that's the mark of a good story, when I care about the characters staying together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked from Page One June 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If a book can hook me on the first page then I know I'm in for a great read. And Oceans Between us is just that. I was drawn in to the conflict and dilemma that Dino faced in the opening scene and was quickly drawn into this beautiful well written story that I found darn impossible to put down. The tension, the romance, the strong character development, each scene played like out like a movie. Not your average romance. This is much better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Conquers All May 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a beautifully written romance about love overcoming the past and social status. This book gives the reader hope that love always finds a way to prevail. Sometimes life takes couples down a path that is completely different than what they had planned to walk, this warm romance shows that in the end nothing truly matters but the power of the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Story May 28, 2012

I think I fell in love with Dino before Maria did! I enjoyed this charming, sensual story from beginning to end; from the first page I connected with the characters and was rooting for them to find a way to be together. A heartwarming, satisfying read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful love story May 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This beautiful love story kept me up all night. I was hooked from the very first scene to the last. The story opens with a rude awakening for Dino, an up and coming singing sensation. His greedy manager has forced Dino's ex-girlfriend to keep her pregnancy a secret and give their son up for adoption. When Dino finds out, it's too late. His son is gone. He flees to a quaint English village and meets Maria; a shy, gentle woman recovering from her own traumatic ordeal.

On the surface, Maria and Dino appear to be opposites. He's a famous, jetsetting singer, she's a reclusive homebody. But in their hearts, they both value and desire the same things. They must show great courage to overcome the many obstacles, both internal and external, that keep them oceans apart.

I loved the way Ms. Taylor brought each setting to life. I could smell Maria's home baked rolls, feel the warmth of the Italian sun and hear the music as Dino and Maria danced.
