Review
[An] erudite book on primarily textological and biographical issues related to Ockham's works... What distinguishes this text from others.. is its unusual format: it consists of a series of twenty letters mainly from the author to nine other scholars identified only by their initials. There are several more letters in an appendix as well as some further comments of the author. Letters give the issue under discussion immediacy: we can feel the sparring, the competitiveness, the mutual admiration that lies behind the rational arguments. Some of this comes through even in these letters on dry textual issues. -- Kenneth C. Russell, Eglise et Thelogie 26, 1995, p.276
