Pretty but tiny!, May 4, 2009
I purchased this heart necklace for my girlfriend for a graduation gift. I choose the gold overlay version, and it really is a beautiful necklace, even from a guy's perspective. The one thing that surprised me though, was how tiny it is. I looked at the specifications, so I knew it was less than a half-inch wide, but it is different seeing it in person. I think the large image is misleading, although they do provide an image with a scale (but I kind of wish they put a penny next to it or something so you could tell how small it is). However, it is still pretty, and the opal looks very nice in particular. The chain is also quite thin, and it ended up breaking and my girlfriend lost the necklace after about a month of wearing it. I would recommend getting a thicker or sturdier chain for the necklace if you plan to wear it often.

Adorable, delicate, sparkly necklace!, July 12, 2011
This review is from: 10k White Gold, October Birthstone, Created-Opal and Diamond Heart Pendant (Jewelry)
I recently purchased this necklace as a belated Birthday gift for myself.
I had been wearing a small, White Gold necklace with a heart-shaped Mystic Topaz (which I also love!) but wanted to change things up a bit.
Since my husband's and my anniversary is in October and I've always loved Opals, I set out to find an Opal to keep close to my heart!
This one is PERFECT!!!
While it is rather small (the provided photos are deceiving) that is one of the many aspects I love about it! It is delicate and dainty, similar to the necklace I was wearing before.
The chain does not seem very sturdy but the sheerness of it is elegant. It creates the illusion that the pendant is simply floating there, sort of like those invisible necklaces from years ago. It's a cool affect, anyway.
The pendant itself, like I said, is small but the Opal itself pops out from the setting, sort of like a cushion cut Diamond.
Since it is a created Opal, it has more noticeably iridescent flecks and will last longer with lower maintenance. Opals often have to be soaked in water and require a good deal of attention in order to get the best and most brilliant wear out of them. The colors are sometimes duller, with very little sheen of anything but white.
Finally, the lining of diamonds accentuates the heart shape and adds a glistening to the necklace.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and recommend it to any woman who loves Opals and small, dainty things around her neck.

Bought for Mom, April 1, 2010
I bought this for my mom, it was a lot smaller than what I expected, but is pretty and sparkly. The middle looks a little fake too, but my mom liked it, so that's all that mattered!
