4.0 out of 5 stars Great Cover Album
This album offers some wonderful new interpretations of The October Project's songs. There are a couple of "misses" for me, but many more are worthy of high praise. One in particular that resonates for capturing the sense of the song is "One Dream" (covered by Richard Barone) - he estabilishes an ethereal mood that is amazing. Gregory Douglass contributes on "A Lonely...

3.0 out of 5 stars October Project redone
October Project was a great group of musicians. Each of the players and writers brought something to the table. I consider them of the best bands ever. October Project was a great group of musicians. Each of the players and writers brought something to the table. I consider them of the best bands ever. While the music is faithful and the singing is above average, these songs pale in comparison to the versions with Mary Fahl as lead singer.I almost wish I could have heard these versions first. It would be easier to judge them as self contained recordings. Most of these seem sparse in arrangement.I actually found some of the songs with male vocals a little more interesting.Beside Mary, Marina was one the best harmony singers on the planet.Emil's low voice brought back the memories of the intervals used by We Five in the sixties. The formula October Project had has been thrown out by each artist for a new approach to each song.Reinterpretation is the name of the game here. These versions don't grab you the way October Project did, but after a few listenings, you may enjoy these versions on their own merit.

Gregory Douglass contributes on "A Lonely Voice" with soaring vocals that hit the feelings spot on. I also enjoyed the accapella tracks - very fun. I am a huge October Project fan, and I understand how some fans may not like to hear anyone but Mary Fahl interpreting these songs, but the truth is, The October Project has inspired a whole generation of performers. These performers bring something new and fresh to the table which makes this album a stand out. Don't hesitate to give it a try.
