5.0 out of 5 stars album of the summer
Never heard note one from these guys but picked up the album after its good review in Esquire. What a great reccomendation. Start to finish this album is phenominal. Lots of different sounds but a coherent theme of bad assness throughout.

3.0 out of 5 stars In the tradition of English dub rock.
Leaving the beach late at night? Driving along less than crowded streets at sundown with the window open? Then this is perfect for you. In the tradition of English bands who love their dub (or anything from a guy Ritchie movie). These guys layer 60's pop/ 70's soul and 80's raggae into a new shiny product that is pleasingly arranged.

This is very 'cool'...

I have all of The Bees CDs. This is my favorite. If you are thinking of delving into this great band's music, I recommend beginning here.

this album is interesting, while right off the cuff the csn&y as well as birds sound comes through, it goes into more interesting territory thankfully.

in its best moments it sounds like shack(you should really own waterpistol and here's tom with the weather) as well as the stone roses, i haven't read any reviews anywhere else so i don't know if anyone else is crafty enough to hear/see that connection. not knowing much about these guys they could of idolized one or both of the afermentioned bands, maybe not. well if you are a britpop and 60s fan like myself and have done your homework on the kinks/byrds/stone roses/shack, then it is more than a pleasant suprise, it is a stunner. some of the songs do need to be skipped over, but the strong songs make up for the weaker ones.

I loved "Free the Bees", but I don't care much for this album. Maybe a few more listens, but I don't think so.
