A gut-wrenching journey into Sicily's war against the Mafia,

I picked up this DVD with an eye to improving my comprehension of spoken Italian, and despite the poor visual quality of the first couple of episodes, found myself quickly hooked on police captain Corrado Cattani's heroic but frustrating battle to bring the Mafia to heel.
I devoured all 8 series and the episodes just seemed to get better as the story unfolded. The series follows a number of interweaving characters who are all involved in some way in the main conflict. The casting is excellent, with Remo Girone a standout as the cold-blooded arch-villain Tano Carridi. Thank you SBS Australia for making this brilliant series accessible to English speakers! If you love modern-day Mafia stories, this is THE series to watch. |
