This review is from: Odd-Jobs (Kindle Edition)
ODD-JOBS by Timothy A. Boling was a fun adventure about a stoner/petty criminal who gets in way over his head. Boling did an excellent job of combining suspense, action, humor, and romance without one of those elements stepping on another. It is funny and entertaining, but the most interesting piece of the puzzle is the relationship between Nick Stone (the protagonist) and his love interest. In some ways, Nick Stone reminded me of Henry Chinaski from Charles Bukowski's novels.
Boling's work is plain-spoken and unpolished, and I mean that as a compliment. He is an outstanding storyteller and has a unique voice that can't be learned in a writer's workshop. I can't wait to read the rest of his books. |
