4.0 out of 5 stars A good (re)introduction
This album is a great collection of live and rare tracks, and the little extras make this an excellent album for new and old fans of LAM. Whether it be the jarring atmosphere of songs like "Letter to God" or the plaintive acoustic version of "Claire's Horrors," LAM is definately shown to be muti-faceted in both their music and their lyrics. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as fantastic as I had expected.
For all the hype on these guys (and you can bet its not being spread by MTV) they just can't seem to live up to it. At least not here anyways. A Bunch of hypnotic tracks that don't seem to do much than just "be there." If you like Gothic Rock, and I do, then you probably know that they all have a stark contrast in musical styles. And these guys find a happy...

I also found the cover of "Sally's Song" from Nightmare Before Christmas to be just adorable, and "The Christmas Song," is definately one of my new fave holiday tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark and beautiful, May 31, 2005
This review is from: Oddities (Audio CD)
London After Midnight(LAM) has such beautiful written lyrics, and so dark which makes them one of the best gothic bands. Oddities and Phycho Magnet would have to be their best albums. Sean's talented and his dark voice just makes everything better. The remake of Sally's Song(Nightmare Before Christmas) was so beautiful it just makes you want to cry.

The band certainly lives up to the great word of mouth they already have going. Very nice acoustic mixes, live songs and a few new treats. Get this CD, its worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD, The best., August 17, 2000

Best CD I ever herd, London After Midnight has been a favorite of mine the second i herd one song. I knew i'd love them from the start and it was an amazing CD seriously. I live in texas and its hard to find CDs like this so i had to get it off the net, and being that i'm not 18 and don't have a credit card or anything i don't do alot of ordering but i HAD to get this CD its so good. This CD its the first band that sounds more like goth instead of a mix of it with something like techno or metal or some other kind of music. Its an excellent CD and i promise if your into this kind of music you won't be let down.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exceptional Anthology - a classy release in its own right, January 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oddities (Audio CD)
"Oddities" is a very welcome surprise particularly for fans of this band. If you know either "Selected Scenes from the End of the World" and "Psycho-Magnet" (if you don't, get them!) this interesting compilation of unusually stylish live recordings, acoustic versions of previous album tracks, and other alluring curiosities is an essential companion to London After Midnight's previous releases. "The Christmas Song" is a seductive rival to the best of the usual Noel anthems (this is surely to Sean Brennan's credit) and a personal favorite. Other highlights are "Let Me Break You", "Demon", "Untitled" and (unless you are astute enough to keep constant watch over your CD player's track indicator) an unexpectedly festive surprise at the end! This release, "Oddities", is certainly much, much more than a collection of obscurities: it is a classy release in its own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars London After Midnight has done it again with "Oddities", August 19, 2000

Oddities by LAM is a great first cd to buy if you are a new fan, or a wonderful gem to add to an ever growing collection. This music is like nothing I have ever heard; too good to be considered gothic, and too 'dark' to be labeled as pop. Beautiful melodies and crashing guitars/drums rocket you into another world.Tender male vocals fill out the gaps making the record wonderful in every way. The cd just surrounds you in beauty, musically you are led to seeing everything that is right in the world, but first you have to make it through the darkness. A must buy for any true London After Midnight fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs and tales of beauty and woe, December 1, 1999
This review is from: Oddities (Audio CD)
Floating, sinking, exhilirating music...LAM have taken all their greatest songs and made them even better. Sean Brennan's voice is like a melancholy nightengale and a ghostly essence in your head. The songs are at once solid and liquid sound that commune with the emotions and delight the senses completely. If you love dramatic, emotive melodies that can't be delivered by just anyone (believe me, Sean does it best), get this album and you will never stop listening. Many singers try and so many fail...this is the album that you will want to take into eternity with you.

4.0 out of 5 stars oddities, July 4, 2001

if this collection had been mastered with a little more bottom end to it, it would be a five star. 'let me break you' is easily the best track. number 11 is another stand out. the live versions were clean, but a lack of a electric guitar is clearly missing. i really hate to be so picky, because this is the best band the world never heard of(maybe its for the best). it is a must have, if you love this band. you cannot label this kind of music, it is just darker then pop, but not growly enough to be black metal. they are what they are, very talented. check it out.

I just bought this cd a few weeks ago & i've been listening to it all the time. This is a great cd from beginning to end all the tracks are great. If you like London After Midnight you might also check out another new & upcoming band, Babydoll Johnson you can download their mp3's from mp3.com & I would suggest getting Oddities if you like LAM you won't regret it.
