5.0 out of 5 stars A "Best of" collection worth the title, August 25, 2003

This is Nana Mouskouri at her classical best. As a collector of her work for years (with over 100 different CD and Albums by this artist), I found this collection to be one of the best. I have her 2 earlier classical albums, but enjoy this grouping best. Here you have winning track after winning track (only a couple misses out of 20 tracks). Keep in mind this is classical Nana, not Folk singing Nana or Pop Standard Nana, or even Showtune Nana.

A great romantic mood album, a joy softly in the background, or demanding great attention at full volume - all her skill and talent is on full display on this disc. Enjoy!

This summer my husband and I were dining in a small restaurant in Queretaro, Mexico and heard this CD being played. Ms. Mouskouri's voice was so clear and beautiful that I left thinking that I just had to get a copy of this CD. I especially like the selection, En Aranjuez con mi amor. We have this piece as an instrumental, but her voice and the lyrics just set it alive.
If you are considering buying this CD for yourself, don't deprive yourself another day! You won't be disappointed.

Highly regarded as one of the most successful singers. She is a versatile performer who has had hits in many countries, and performed in various languages. This collection here presents some great recordings from a lady who's been in the music industry for over 40 years.

The most glorious collection of sound and emotion I have ever heard. The selections are classic in the finest sense and the renditions are purely angelic.

5.0 out of 5 stars None, December 14, 2010
This review is from: Ode to Joy (Audio CD)
In 1977 at age of 14 in Taiwan, my elder brother brought home a record with the title Nana's Book Of Songs. A homely lady with glasses and straight long dark hairs on the cover got my attention ever since. Although the songs are primarily sung in English with beautifully executed orchestra and male harmonies, later on I learned that English, German, French and Spanish aren't even Nana's native tongue. I also watched Benny Hill impersonating her in funny way on his show back then in Taiwan.

In 1976 Nana was first introduced to Taiwanese audiences by a popular female DJ on her midnight radio program. The responses were tremendously intense among young audiences; specially students who needed to burn midnight oil for heavy examinations or studied European languages. The opening theme for the program was Morning Has Broken by Nana instead of original singer Cat Stevens.
