Rolling Stones meet the Beatles,

This review is from: Ode to Ochrasy (Hk) (Audio CD)
This is the third album from Mando Diao, and is their best album. All their albums are great, but this one is excellent. If you ever wondered what the Beatles would sound like doing the harder songs of the Rolling Stones, then this is your band. There is not a bad song on the album (or on the second disc that came with the import version.) The highlights of the album are Long Before Rock n' Roll, The Wildfire, The New Boy, TV & Me, and Ochrasy.

Perfecting their sound....once again.,

I'll fully admit right now the first time I heard Mando Diao, I was hooked. It was at a listening station in a Borders and I like to test out bands I haven't heard of. I am thankful that I stopped and checked out the band with the funny name: Mando Diao. With each CD they release, they polish and perfect their sound. This album is no different. From the first song, you know the album is gonna drag you through rock and back, and that's just what it does. With "Ode to Ochrasy" the band has taken their sound one step further, and each song has a really unique feel to it. Just listening once through songs like "The New Boy" or "Song for Aberdeen" and you'll be tempted to hit the repeat button and listen to the song one more time. They are that good. "The New Boy" especially stands out on this album. With its almost bittersweet lyrics and orchestrated sound, ts hard not to think that Mando Diao is going somewhere they've never been before, and you'll love every second of it. Even if you haven't heard of the band (which you probably haven't), don't be afraid to give them a try. Go ahead, I dare you to listen to a clip from one of the songs below. Let me just warn you, you might get hooked.

Sometimes cocky works,
This review is from: Ode to Ochrasy (Audio CD)
Similar to Kasabian, Mando Diao has proclaimed that their music is just as good if not better than anyone they have drawn their influences from. While some might see this as pretentious, such as I, it actually really really works for them. Without that type of attitude, I'm not entirely sure that they could have made all three of their albums as good as they are. After looking back at both Bring 'Em In and Hurricane Bar, it's really impressive to see how far Mando Diao has come in such a small time. While I think I like Hurricane Bar better than Ochrasy just a little because I heard it first, Ode to Ochrasy is a great direction to go from there. So many of the songs are true classics and the styles are varied while remaining true to the Mando Diao formula. Such examples in my opinion are "Josephine" (One of my personal favorites), "Wildfire (If it was True)", and the title track "Ochrasy". Let me also take this opportunity to recommend to everyone who likes Ode to Ochrasy or any of Mando Diao's albums to try very hard to see them live. They put on one of the most high energy shows I've ever seen, second only to Dir En Grey, though in an entirely different way I assure you. In short, Ode to Ochrasy is an amazing album and will bring even more fans to Mando Diao than they currently have, which is growing fast. The same cocky attitudes towards their music like their previous albums and they show no signs of slowing down, pick this one up.

Mando Diao- Ode to Ochrasy,
By Kale (KY, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ode to Ochrasy (Audio CD)
Mando Diao's new album 'Ode to Ochrasy' has a lot of the same feel of their last album, but better! The single 'Long before Rock and Roll' is a very fun song. And 'Good Morning Herr Horst' is a very fun dancing song. To me all of the album makes me want to dance... And if the music can do that, then it's great in my eyes. The last song on the album, 'Ochrasy', is beautiful but it's a bit slower. The lyrics and Bjorn's voice are amazing! Very good song to listen to over and over and over again and I never get tired of it. But really, if you like Mando Diao you'll love their new album. And if you've never listened to them, but like The Beatles you'll most likely enjoy Mando Diao too!

Mando Diao's probably the best Swedish band ever. Ode to Ochrasy is their third studio album. The variation of the songs on this album is wide. Although moast of the songs are similar to each other, each one has it's own unique style and sound. I would call Mando's music "happy-deep" rock. It makes you feel good and puts you into a better mood then you were in before, but you also feel the lyrics and what the guys want to say.I would like to recommend the songs "Long before rock'n roll" and "The wildefire (If it was true)" There are awesome!

Mando Diao The 3rd, but is two discs too much?,
This review is from: Ode to Ochrasy (Audio CD)
This is a bona fied rarity in the US! If you're a huge Mando Diao fan with the money to spare, stop reading right now and buy this thing (assuming it's in stock)! Seriously!! This thing isn't even on Ebay! The four bonus tracks and videos on the bonus disc are unimportant and by no means their best works, but for serious Mando Diao fans, they are essential!!The album itself is great and somehow manages to maintain the band's lo-fi sound while adding string arrangements this time around. The album was produced by the band, so this is Mando Diao as Mando Diao sees it. I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes Oasis or any of those loud British bands with a talent for melody in the 90s. However, for first timers, you may want to start with the single disc, as not only is this expensive, but also the bonus tracks won't mean a thing. Right now, in September 2007, only one of the bonus tracks on the bonus disc is available elsewhere. If you miss buying this, Mando Diao singles often share the same B-Sides or rare tracks on international versions, so don't give up, you can get these rare tracks yet!!

When my friend first told me about Mando diao and this album I figured that it would be another indie band that we would both love and no one else would care about. Well, we both love them, he acctually got to go see them in concert, and when I play the CD at work people are always asking who it is. This band is brilliant! Thats the best way I can explain them. I've gotten some of thier other CDs now, but this is by far thier best. the others are worth the purchase though.

I would definitely recommend purchasing this CD. This is one album you need to have in your collection--it's the best one in mine. Mando Diao is rock at its highest level. You don't know music until you've listened to this.
