5.0 out of 5 stars More, please!, January 29, 2000

This review is from: Odessa: Jewish Music From Russia (Audio CD)
A hilariously lewd, musically exciting collection of songs from the seamy side of Odessa. The playing is impeccable, and the songs open up a world of sleazy scoundrels, incorrigible drinkers and beautiful losers.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic earthy soul music, September 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Odessa: Jewish Music From Russia (Audio CD)
An absolute revelation. This CD is a million worlds from the over-polished and over-produced folk CDs that are all too common, instead the accordion/clarinet/tuba/vocals quartet regale us with dynamic songs of street folklore from Odessa with its seedy streets teeming with life and its vices. Superb musicians and musicianship from a lost era.

This review is from: Odessa: Jewish Music From Russia (Audio CD)
A third rate street song selection, and a lame performance to match.

My family is from Odessa, and this ain't Odessa Jewish music.
