Product Description

Card players know Spider Solitaire as an engrossing two-deck Solitaire game made particularly well known when it was included in several Windows operating systems. Spider for Android brings the popular game to your Android device.

The goal seems easy enough: sort a descending sequence of a suit from King through Ace. When the suit is complete it's removed from play. You win Spider Solitaire when all 104 cards (eight suits) are sorted completely and removed.

Game play

Spider uses your phone's horizontal view. Each game uses two decks cards, with the number of suits dependent on the level of difficulty. There are 10 rows of cards. The first four rows from the left consist of six cards, and the next six rows have five cards each. The top card in each row is face up.

Touching a card highlights it. You then touch a card of with the next highest value to move the card, or a series of cards, to another column.

App Name
What's your next move?

Spider lets you undo or redo as many moves as you wish if you're not pleased with the course of a game and want to make a different move.

Levels of difficulty are sorted based on how many suits are in play. The Easy level includes all spades. Two suits hearts and spades are used for the Medium level. And for the extremely challenging Hard level, all four suits are in play.

The app auto saves a game in progress when you leave Spider so you can pick up where you left off. Users may choose between several backgrounds. An animation feature clearly indicates when a suit has been completed or when a new hand is being dealt.

Spider comes with two bonus games: Black Widow and Tarantula. Both games have similar rules. Tarantula Solitaire is less challenging than Spider in that cards may be sorted by color instead of suit. Black Widow Solitaire is an easier version where any sequence of 13 cards from King to Ace may be removed regardless of suit or color.

This is always a fun game. There's not much to say about a game other than that it's fun and easy to play.

4.0 out of 5 stars This game is my go-to activity when I want something ... November 18, 2014

This game is my go-to activity when I want something that doesn't require my constant attention. It's a game you can play while watching TV or sitting at the doctor's office; doesn't absorb all of your concentration.

The reason for four stars instead of five is this: the deck is only in one suit- you cannot 'up' the difficulty level by adding more suits to the game.

I always play this game with 2 suites and since I set the game to play only solvable puzzles, I won't give up on a game until I've solved it. It is hard enough to exercise your brain, but not so difficult that you have spend hours on each game. (My best time is 4 minutes and my average time is 11 minutes, so this is a game that you can play while waiting a few minutes for a dr. appt, or while a passenger in a car.) If you don't exit out of the game, your game in progress will still be there the next time you open it. I just press the button that brings me back to my phone's home page if I need to stop the game and do something else and then the game is waiting for me the next time I open the game. I also have the free solitaire and free cell games from Odesys. I like them too and they also have a setting for playing only solvable games.

It is ok for the price paid. Works pretty well. The ads being on the side are easy to ignore for the most part.

I've been having fun with this app for quite a while and can't say enough good things about it. The free version works great and the side banner advertising is not intrusive.
