An interesting near future story,
By Wyvernfriend (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Odin's Voice (Mars Trilogy) (Hardcover)
It's a future with bonded slaves (called Bonders), genetic manipulation, a colony on Mars, technology that's all-pervasive (though the command sequence is a bit cumbersome). There are those who worship Norse Gods and one of them is Odinstoy.
But she wasn't always Odinstoy, before she was Kylie and she was a bonder. Affroditey is a spoilt teen, certain of her place at the top of the ladder, but her ladder is torn away from her when her father commits suicide because he's bankrupted himself. To help pay the debts Affroditey is sold as a bonder, which is a sharp shock to her system. Her first owner calls her Kylie. When the two girls meet up, things start getting very complicated. It's a very interesting, very involved story and the characters are well drawn. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. |
