this is the debut cd album from MEXICAN INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTIONISTS Hocico...a band with a dark DARK style never heard of before and much MUCH more evil sounding and feeling than wumpscut, velveta ASSid christ, leaether strip, suicide commando, etc... taking the influence from SKINNY PUPPY (the best!), these 2 mexicanos are truly gods of industrial, pinche perra!! get their other albums, they are all amazing!!! Cursed Land, Sangre Hirviente, Aqui y Ahora En El Silencio, & El Dia De La Ira, look out for their new album "Signos de Aberaccion" coming out in Feb. of 2002!!!! >=]

best mexican industrial-dance,

Yet another amazing band from the well-known Mexican label OPCION SONICA. Hocico is a two-member creation by Racso Agroyam and Erk Aicrag. Odio Bajo El Alma is the debut release from this incredible band. They provide us with some very unique and aggressive dark EBM, not only musically, but also lyrically. Their music can be compared somewhere in the style of AmGod meets :Wumpscut: . There are four songs titled in Spanish, of which two are instrumental and two are sung in Spanish. Things begin with Cuando La Maldad Despierta (When Evil Awakens), an interesting and appropriate instrumental piece to begin this disc. Just as the song finishes, industrial from hell breaks loose with an amazing piece called Odio En El Alma (Hate In The Soul); a phenomenal, fast, dark EBM composition sung in Spanish. There are many changes through out the song as well as the whole disc for that matter and will definitely get you moving on the dance floor. Odio En El Alma is one of many tracks with a lot of dance floor potential on this creation, others being Beings Of Relief, Final Resource, and Hell on Earth; just to name a few. Not all of it is just fast either, there are some nicely done slower cuts, such as Temple Of Lies, and Sad Scorn. This is by no doubt a very solid debut work from these two guys. They have managed to accomplish what it has taken many other bands years to do. Hocico is for sure a band to look out for in the future, as well as anything coming out of OPCION SONICA for that matter. I can't wait for more!!!! I highly recommend Hocico as a definite essential in any industrial collection.

I am a fan of Skinny puppy; I used to be one of Leather strip, but I still like some of their songs; these, together with Yelworc, are the main influences acknowledged by this mexican band. But Hocico is a bad band, in my opinion obviously. They lack ideas, I'm not a purist, and I know not every band can crate their own style, but it's just that Hocico usually tend to copy other bands (Wumpscut, Leather Strip) but they make it bad; I will explain: I think they only achieve to follow the darker sides of these said bands, but they are unable to get the subtleties hidden under Puppy's music, for instance. The first song, instrumental, is really a very good one; but the rest are so purposely agressive that they get a blurred image of other bands and sound sometimes ridiculous.

Boring, uninspired, repetitive.,

Take Wumpscut, sub Spanish for the German lyrics, and make it totally cliched and boring. What do you have? Hocico! Do NOT buy this CD. It's utterly terrible.
