The tragedy of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon directly affected the lives of many gays and lesbians; the first officer of American Airlines flight 77 which crashed into the Pentagon was an openly gay man deeply involved in gay social issues. A passenger, Mark Bingham on United Airlines flight 93 which crashed in Pennsylvania, became a hero trying to overcome the hijackers in an attempt to save the airline from becoming a weapon of mass destruction. We admire their bravery and dedicate the 17th edition of Odysseus - The International Gay Travel Planner™ to the gay heroes of September 11 including airline employees, passengers and other victims of this despicable crime.
