About the Author

Steven Grant is perhaps best known for converting The Punisher from a third rate supporting character to a major star in Marvel's PUNISHER MINI-SERIES, but his career ranges three decades and virtually every major American comics company, including stories for (whatever comics titles you think will be most impressive). His range extends to novels, short stories, film and music criticism and screenplays, and he pioneered the modern crime comic with works such as Whisper, Badlands, Damned and the currently running Two Guns from Boom! Studios. An internet column of culture criticism and political commentary runs every Wednesday at the ComicBookResources.Com website.

This Odysseus is the one who whould have inspired a young Christopher Hitchens.

He is quite simply a Man who DEMANDS to be left alone to work out his own future according to his own hopes, dreams, and abilities. What he hates more than anything else is the OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE that Men have had to put up with, thanks to these self-appointed GODS. It's not that he thinks Men could actually do better if left alone, no, it's simply that they are OUR LIVES. He'd have no problem is the Gods went off to Mars or somewhere else and lived their OWN lives. It's their continually mucking about with US that's the problem.

It's rather like the problem that I and many others have with Priests, Ministers, Imams, Rabbis and others of the ilk. They just CAN'T (or WON'T) mind their own Bloody business!

If you've been vouchsafed a "Personal Revalation" from the "All that Is," good for you! Live your life accordingly and if it's better than ours, trust me, we'll soon be knocking on your door asking "How do you do it?" But NO, you insist on coming around, knocking on OUR Doors and Hectoring US on what you think we're doing WRONG! And then you resentfully mutter to each other how the "heathens" won't "Open their Hearts" to your "Good News."

Knock on THIS Odysseus' door with that kind of schpeil and he's gonna hand you your own head, or stuff it someplace more appropriate, if he's in a grumpy mood.

My kinda Guy!

If you were expecting Homer's Odyssey you're going to be disappointed. But this too is a good thoughtful story about a man defying the gods to be the master of his own destiny. The art would be better on a larger format.
