This review is from: The Odyssey: The Famous Prose Version by Samuel Butler (Paperback)
(Note: this is a review of the Barnes & Noble "cheap" edition of Butler's Odyssey prose translation. The ISBN on the book does not match the book; the ISBN points to the Spanish version.)
We bought this book because we homeschool our kids, and two of them have to read the Odyssey. We had the Penguin prose version at home and were hunting for another copy. At $12.95 we had hoped for a cheaper "second" copy.
Then we found the B&N bargain edition. $5.95. Sounds good.
Not good. We should have looked closer at the store. My sons started reading it outloud, each from their book, and my older son wondered why his version kept saying Jove instead of Zeus. Sure enough, the entire book has the Roman gods instead of the Greek. What in the world is up with that??
So we wasted six bucks (plus tax). Avoid this book! Get the penguin edition.
