5.0 out of 5 stars Greek mythology mixed with history, April 24, 2010
This review is from: The Odyssey (Paperback)
Homer was a great poet and epic storyteller, and this book is one of the best historical surviving novels of ancient Greek mythology and life style. The adventure of Odysseyus is very climatic and full of some of the most original and finest action of ancient Greece. I like how the poem is set up, going from the present, then going back to the past and working up to how Odysseyus got to where he currently is, as well as showing how his family is coping with his time gone. Odysseyus is one of greeks most masculine heroes, and proves his worth in the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Odyssey, May 25, 2010
This review is from: The Odyssey (Paperback)
I think that The Odyssey is the most important Latin translation. I think every high school student should read it for several reasons. It teaches many important lessons to students. It teaches loyalty to family and friends but the most important thing it teaches is perseverance. No matter how difficult the journey, a person can not give up. When facing adversity, a person must be brave, tenacious, and true. It is also helpful to be creative as Odysseus was in escaping from the Cyclops. Also, it is a great example of an epic poem. I found it interesting because it is how the Greeks communicated what was important in life.
